    Re: F599 GTB - Quattroruote

Don't understand how it could beat the Enzo in 0-200, it has a detuned Enzo engine, it's heavier and it has worse engine placement.

The Enzo is capable of much better times as is the CGT, if the car is well broken-in and conditions are good enough.

About 599 and its tires. They're the latest PZero from Pirellli, without a definitve name...

    (by mafalda)

If this is what a Ferrari can now do with 620hp and over 1600kg, it really makes me wonder what the 2008 F60 with roughly 900hp and about 1250kg will be like.

Was the 599 broken in? If not, can we also assume it would have improved times?

If Ferrari can produce perfomance of this nature with the 599, can you imagine what they will do with the 430 replacement in 2008? It is going to be one hell of a car.

More efficient launch and quicker shifts? Just guessing.

This is what happens, if you use the Launch Control too often.

    Re: F599 GTB - Quattroruote

Sorry, But I disagree big time here!
599GTB faster then Enzo?! Come on! Enzo is lighter, with better aerodynamics etc. Sport Auto numbers(very soon!) will not(and are NOT) nearly that good... Despite F1 Trac system 599 do not have any kind of LSD, so, story about it as track monster is pretty funny IMO.
Do not get me wrong here, I like 599 a lot but, this test is pro Ferrari like some other test are way too much pro Porsche.
BTW, every other German, French or English mag measured almost the same track resluts-Gallardo is always faster(on FIVE tracks) then F430 and 997 Turbo. Only in Quattroroute test is F430 faster and then 599 is the fastest.
This time it is Ferrari marketing in play...

Just shows you how unbiased Quattroroute really is. Maybe they should use zzboba's afterburner on their magazine .

2008 will be the year of the F60 and a 612m. The successor to the F430, set to come in 2009, will likely boast a 550hp 4,5-liter V8.

Hmmm, but Nick keeps telling us the F430 successor will be ready in 2008?

    Re: F599 GTB - Quattroruote

Our German rennteamers should visit their local F dealer to do their own confirmatory, extensive test-drives of 599, rather than relying on typically inept/biased/pseudo-precise magazine reviews....esp since it sounds like 599 is about as easily available in EU as the lowly 997TT/65 are globally.....

If not, know at least 5 guys in NYC/SF who will each have acquired a commuter fleet of new '07 599/997TT Tip/65 within next 4 mos to do own amateur, back-to-back, real-world 50-200KPH accel and twisties testing.....but still highly value the German perspective re: 200-300KPH accel and 200KPH+ stability....

    Re: F599 GTB - Quattroruote

Rossi : As Patriek said there will be no replacement for the F430 before 2009. However, in MY2008 the F430 is likely to see its power bumped to 520hp along with other minor tweaks.

Ooooo common what marketing ????? It just depends on which kind of track it is , diferent chassis (cars) like diferent tracks ...
Why the 599 does a better time than the Enzo ??? simple the driver, if i go for a round on a track with the Enzo and do the same with the 599 off course i will do a better time with the 599 being no top driver i just have to keep most of the electronics on... if you want a fair test dont look to Sport auto magazine but look for the topgear test.

At first, even I thought any power-up is out of question. On the other hand in 2008 already 2 new Ferraris are set to come and I doubt Ferrari would release 3 new models in one year and than almost nothing (apart from a 599m and spider versions) for say 4-5 years. Hence I wouldn't be surprised by a late 2009 presentation and as the competition is getting stronger (powerkit, PDK for the TT on the way as well as the Gallardo MY08 FSI, 7-speed DSG) and as even now the F430 is no longer that dominant in comparison tests, it will be in need of an update to keep up. Well, I'm actually aware it doesn't need to keep up performance wise that strictly, as it is fast enough and there is enough demand, but it is a matter of honour to prove they are on the edge, where they probably (based on the latest models that are huge improvement over the previous ones, much bigger then we were used to) want to be.
