The 01 of course. the 02 dropped tear headlight looks weird and it was a knee-jerk reaction to the crowd upset with the 11 sharing the headlights w/ the Boxster. I take the original 99-01 headlights any day over the 02-04 correction. I also take the return to the oval on the 997 of course.

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

It was more than headlights that where changed, what about the other changes? I personally like the 02 and up better but to each his own.

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

    HI there!

Any of you guys know when this is about to roll out as I want to order a brand new 997 S and I do not want to get the old model if the facelift is about to come soon.

Do you think that X51 will come as a standard as the brand new M3 will be available with a 420 BHP ?

    What do you think?

    Florent

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

I read on autospies that the 07 run will be short and the the 08 will be an early release in the spring/summer 08. Also a 20 hp increase. Who knows if this info is correct. All this is here in this thread somewhere. I decided to hold off and see. My 03 is still pretty nice.

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

Sorry, I meant to say the early release would be spring/summer 07, not 08.

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

    Spy pics of 997 GT2

Found some spy shots of the GT2 inn Autocar and also Autoweek. Apparently this spy shot shows none of the body changes shown on other 997 spy shots.

You would guess from that that the GT2 would come out BEFORE all the other changes are introduced to the 997, or that the GT3, GT2, TT, and Targa will continue for a while with "old" styling while C2/S/C4/S Coupes and Cabs will get the new styling first.

Take your pick but it may mean the 997 restyle is going to be a little longer in the works before it appears at a dealer near you.

Re: Spy pics of 997 GT2

If it follows the 996 trend, the changes will follow the 997TT release.

    Not quite true

The 997TT is still in the current body style (as is the GT3 and Targa) with none of the mods on the spy pics. In the case of the 996 the TT was the car that introduced the styling changes.

The Turbo(GT2 and TT Cabrio) have the led lights in front, and in back the exhaust inside the bumper..i'm not too sure they will take the restyling..the problem will be focused only for the rear led taillights that i hope at least for these models will be with the same shape of the current one,in way to retrofit it

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Lars, you are the man. Can't wait for Porshce to release the paddle shifter.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

I just read in this month's edition of 911 and Porsche's, a magazine obviously dedicated, that these changes will be a shown at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September. So, anyone in Frankfurt, please advise if true!

German AMS reported in their latest edition that the facelift is due in fall 2008 (i.e. two years from today).

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

If it's fall 2008, it will be shown in Paris .... not Frankfurt.

This is what I heard as well .... fall 08

    Paris 2006 and 2008
    Frankfurt 2007 and 2009

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

If the facelift is due on the 08 model year, then it would be due out in the end 07 right? If they are gonna unveil it at an auto show in fall 08 then we won't see it until 09. This timeline sounds a little off according to what I have read. Anyone confirm?

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

I think it's very "Detroit" of them. Change just for appearances? Not at Porsche! lol

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

Looks like very standard changes for the auto industry. New tail lights and fog lights. Big deal. Seems like a band aid till the 998 or whatever. Save your money Porky.

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

I mis-read the article as it states the changes will be shown in the 2007 Auto Show for the 2008 model. Sorry folks!

They sure look like Techart wheels. I have also removed what looks like tape at the bottom of the rear lights.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Here's Lars' picture without the (what looks to be) tape:

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

    Original picture, for comparison.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

    love the Asymentrical rims! LOL.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Two years from now the LED technology used for the tail lights will advance even more so I doubt the look of those was decided today.

I'm not sold on the new taillights. 911s have always had a strong horizontal line across the top of the bumper. These new lights look droopy and sadly BMWesque. How long until we start referring to the 'saggy cheeks' 997 just like the fried egg 996s?

Fully agree on the rear lights. Looks like a change for the sake of change instead of an improvement.

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

great pics lars! thanks!! my rumorrs say MY 08 meaning a year from now..

For me they look even worse than the current rear lights, also the new elements at the front seem to give the car an unnecessary bumpy look instead of the 993-ish lines of the 997.

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

The face lift looks really nice. A 20hp increase plus PDK should help keep the 911 competitive.

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

    Donkey,
You know 20 hp for a fact or just hoping?

It's bound to have at least a 20 bhp bump, probably the old 996 powerkit engine or the current 997S engine.

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

Yep, great pics, but what will be the impact on existing 997s? We can certainly expect an increase in horsepower with the facelift? I am planning to buy one shortly and I am concerned about resale value of the 3.6 ltr / 325PS version. Any thoughts?
