Car is well masked, and dont give real picture of it. Lines are very nice - like real sportcar should have, but final picture we will get when car will be presented.

Well... Someone will not like this but, IMO R8 is the best Walter da Silva's work yet. People that do not like it have very different and old fashioned taste. That people rave about Mercedes SL, Porsche Cayenne and other design "Masterpieces". Both of this cars(SL and Cayenne) are boring for me. SL is pure Grandpa car if you know what I mean(SL55/65 or not).
That is the difference in taste and opinion... I am only suprised that some Gallardo owners do not like R8. If you guys bought your Gallardo purely for its macho look then you have a seriuos problem. Same thing if the problem is the fact that Audi owns Lamborghini. R8 is positioned below Gallardo or F430 but, above 997 Carrera S(although it will be on the same price level as Carrera S).
I must say that F430 owners have the best taste and character!

I agree with you KresoF1. The car has a modern look and will put Porsche with the carreraS into some trouble.
In the early 90s Audi has shown with its quattro spider concept that the company could be a serious rival for porsche (maybe its death). But Mr. Piech didn't allowed Audi to kill Porsche with this sportsar. Today Porsche is a strong company and now Audi can develop such a rival...

Difficult to say. For comparision:
If we look at the general shape, then one could say that the R8 IS the Quattro Spider/AVUS concepts, rolled into one car. At least it seems to be so to me.

It's quite strange that they managed to take lots of pictures of the car with the maskingtape in place, but not a single picture without the tape. I'm pretty sure the Audi photographers weren't taking official pictures with the tape in place

Regarding Arizona pics, they were invited there to take the pics! Internet Gorilla marketing as I already wrote in this thread.
BTW, look at this pic. There are R8 signatures on brake calipers! This is apart from wheels and little bit of camo finished product.

This is really a great looking car. Here's an image I edited quickly just now, which will give a better idea of how the car will most likely look when it hits production in 2007. I'm under the assumption that those covers on the lights will also go...

I dont like the car so much but i cant say it is bad. I agree the comment it is between Carrera S and Gallardo's class.
Can it be a 996 TT ? Dont think so..
One more comment from me. I remember this car same loooking as Audi LeMans Concept which is built at 2003. I saw it at the Car Shows. Anyway 3 years passed and Audi hasnt built this car yet.
So question..
When we see this car on roads, dont we say it is 3 years old? For me the answer is yes. And i am sure after 2 years Audi will do a facelift on this car

To develop such a study to a normal street car it takes two or three years. Audi has decided very quickly to produce it.
Think of the carrera GT: the study was presented in 2000 and the final car in 2003.
I think many sportscar buyers have fears that this new Audi R8 could be better than their own cars. In fact this could be true... and if we compare some of their cars with it, they look absolutely old-fashioned.

Ok but did you see any car so much on press or in net on mag or etc before 3 years it is produced.
Damn i did see that car 3 years ago in a car show named Audi Lemans Concept
