Vote for your favorite 997 Wheels

If you where to change your 997 Wheels... What would you get?

Re: Vote for your favorite 997 Wheels

Imo , if you are changing wheel type on a C2 or C4 , then the TT wheels and GT3 wheels belong to their correct bodys , so its out of the 4 . My choice goes to the standard Carrera S wheels , I would just stick with them..

    Overall though ..1,GT3 wheels 2,Carrera S..

    throt..

Re: Vote for your favorite 997 Wheels

I've got the SportsDesign but I really like the Carrera Sport wheels specially since my 997 is a seal grey... I guess the XRR's color matches great my P. Any Seal grey 997 with XRR wheels pics?

Re: Vote for your favorite 997 Wheels

I quite fancy a set of the Classic's for my 'S', they have clean styling and are strangely enough easy to clean.

To be fair I like them all on their respective cars as Throt say's. The Turbo wheels suit the Turbo and the GT3 wheels look spectacular on the GT3. Emm, wonder if there are some classics on ebay?

haku your car just look amazing !!! love the XRR on seal ... my dealer offers me to trade in my SportDesign wheels with the XRR for 4k what should I do

Re: Vote for your favorite 997 Wheels

GT3 or XRR. I'm still waiting to see a turbo or a c2s with GT3 wheels. If any one has pics, please post.

Re: Vote for your favorite 997 Wheels

I started out with the Carrera S on my car, but switched to a set of Classics after only 4 weeks. The originals were waaaaaay to finicky to keep clean. Classics are a breeze to maintain, plus I like their wide-open look.

    I did the same.

    Thanks for the compliments.
I would keep your wheels... they are stunningly nice too...

Off topic but... I hope you and yours are all well and safe.

I have the Carrera S wheels and love them

I would also consider the Sport Design or the Turbo. I don't get too excited about third party wheels and typically keep with some sort of OEM designed wheel (usually larger then the original) instead of third party wheels.

Re: Vote for your favorite 997 Wheels

    Georges,

I may be wrong, but I once read a post on Rennteam that claimed the Carrera S wheels were the lightest of the option wheels. Can anyone validate that?

Anyway, I like the Carrera S wheel design, even if they are hard to clean and wax.

Re: Vote for your favorite 997 Wheels

I would change to Carrera sport from the lobster forks, but only if ordering again from the factory. Otherwise, I love the IFORGE wheels and would get them in a heartbeat.

Re: Vote for your favorite 997 Wheels

Hey, interesting to know the Factory Carrera S wheel is the lightest one...

Re: Vote for your favorite 997 Wheels

My 997S was listed on dealer website with sport wheels but my salesman tried to talk me into the Carrera S wheel for an additional $650 discount (they had evidently traded them off the car for someone who wanted the sport wheels). I insisted on the sport wheels because I did not personally care for the S wheel so he agreed to change them back to the sport. When I picked up the car, I loved the looks of them but wasn't sure about having painted wheels but I have grown to love them. They are probably a little harder to clean than the classics (more spokes) but if I ordering now, I would go for the sports. I also had not realized that the sport wheel came with a slightly larger tire (305s vs. 295s) on the rear (same as the C4S) but now I think the wider the better.

Re: Vote for your favorite 997 Wheels

I think i'm gonna give up my lobsters for XRRs...

    I did and love them

Re: Vote for your favorite 997 Wheels

I would go for the Carrera Sport wheel. and just so you know, the GT3 wheel is not available as an option for the Carreras....

I think you can still get the GT3 wheels aftermarket though - Wheel Enhancement is advetising them.

Re: Vote for your favorite 997 Wheels

the turbo wheel pullin up the rear as expected. lobsters are more popular than people make out too.

Re: Vote for your favorite 997 Wheels

I've heard that some new Tequipment catalogue release might be out soon; new wheels designs might appear too... Any info on it?

Re: Vote for your favorite 997 Wheels

I have the Carrera S now but if I could do it again would go for the Carrera Classic's. With the brake dust/dirt issue on the 997's the classics would be the easiest to maintain. Easier to clean the inside of the wheels too which is a nightmare with the Sport Design even w/ the sport wheels.

As for the turbo or GT3 wheels on a 997 imo they look very strange on a car which they don't belong.

I didn't realize till now that the Sports had .5 inch wider rims and 305's in the rear, that would defintely sway my opinion towards getting them instead.

Stradale, you can mount 305 on any P. wheels, I've done that on my SportDesigns and they look great.

Correct - the Michelin specs for 305/30-19 have a rim width range of 10.5 to 11.5 with 11 being the measured rim width.

Re: Vote for your favorite 997 Wheels

I love 5 spoke design, but GT3 rims are superb!

Re: Vote for your favorite 997 Wheels

Lobster forks all the way! (with the Classics a close 2nd)

Re: Vote for your favorite 997 Wheels

I ordered my 997S with the Carrera Classic from the factory.

I thought the same when ordering my 997S and, therefore, ordered it with the Classics from the beginning.
