    Re: Where is RC?????

Yes I agree with Crash. You should find a way to make Rennteam into a true money maker and still keep it as a great community.
I am sure it has it's challenges but with some good thought it can be done !

    Re: Where is RC?????

good luck RC... sorry to hear business has been slow. you have assembled a great community and it saddens me that one of its members could dampen your enthusiasm. i'm often impressed how courteous and respectful most people are here but obviously all it takes is one person's comments to turn someone away. thank you kindly for giving people a place for such great information and knitting together people from all over the world. thank you!

Thanks for the kind words, guys...I really appreciate it.
Rennteam.com isn't a one man show, even if it sometimes appear to be that way and I'm really not pleased about it.
Running ads on this site would be a possibility to gain some money but this would be for improving the site, not my personal gain. Here lies the problem: this doesn't "help" me to have more time for Rennteam, meaning: Rennteam would gain some money but on the other hand, this money would be useless since I wouldn't have the time to improve this site.
The other moderators may do that but CR for example is even more busy than I am, for him time is even more a problem.

Bottom line is: I can't add ads to Rennteam and not offer our members something instead as a benefit for these ads.
Rennteam has always been an enthusiast site and we never wanted to make profit with it. To run this site the way we would love to run it, I would need to give up my business. Unfortunatley I doubt that I'll ever be able to feed my family and lead the lifestyle I'm having now with this site. I would love to because I love cars but I'm with both feet on the ground and I know that it is impossible. So why annoying you guys with banners or ads if it wouldn't really improve this site? I hope you get the point.

Yes, I get what you're saying. But what about Rennteam memorabillia? Hats, key chains and the like. You know demand is strong, so why not seize the opportunity? I've always wanted a Rennteam 997 Turbo hat, but driving all the way to Bavaria and haggling with your daughter to exchange two Barbie dolls and a Rubik's cube for a hat seems a bit too troublesome to me . I'm pretty sure you could sell at least several hundred hats, plus stuff such as key chains and the like. We'd buy this stuff, but you need to offer it first . Just split the profits with CR any way yo like and keep the money. The site is perfect the way it is, so give yourself some credit.

    Re: Where is RC?????

    What about a Rennteam magazine?

    Re: Where is RC?????

Good luck RC, business and family come first. How else are we gonna pay for our toys?
Don't mind that guy who got you all riled up, life is too short, enjoy your TT. Still waiting for mine;)
Oh well, one last outing at Watkin's Glen for the old C4S for me, next time it will be in a 997TT. When I'm in Regensburg I'll make a trip to the 'ring and look you guys up!

You're going to Regensburg? That's such a nice city!

    Re: Where is RC?????

    My family is from there.

Cool! I've been to Regensburg five times this year. It's a really nice little city, I must say. And the A93 from Munich to Regensburg is really fun to drive .

I would LOVE to do all the stuff you guys mentioned. Cars were always my passion. Rennteam isn't even half of what I wished it would be. We have great Users, we have a fast server and we already have a special community and a certain bond between us. This isn't enough for me, I want Rennteam to be much more informative, meaning: I need to be on the phone, at my dealer, at Porsche, etc. all the time, trying to squeeze out information and pictures. I want a nice picture gallery where pictures posted by people are automatically added to their personal gallery for our repeated enjoyment. I want a slightly more professional design but still "clean" like it is now. I want more reviews and comparison with lots of pictures and information, I want more tuning/aftermarket infos, I want...well, I want Rennteam to be THE Porsche and Ferrari enthusiast authority on the internet. This can't be done with the current money and time resources, this is impossible. So here's the problem: we're growing but we can't really cope with it regarding content. I would love to do more and it hurts to see this site growing and growing and I can't do anything to improve it. Maybe I'm crazy but this is the way I feel. Somehow I feel I owe you guys something for being here but maybe I'm just overworked and frustrated, so I apologize for my ranting. I think I'm getting old.

    Re: Where is RC?????

Although life can get overwhelming at times, I'm sure everything will fall into place.

    Re: Where is RC?????

RC, I am a long time Porsche/Ferrari guy and only recently joined Rennteam. I own a bunch of Internet companies in 10 countries. I have one in Germany based in Berlin. If you would like to see if I can help in any way, please send me a pm.
    David

    Re: Where is RC?????

    RC,
Good to hear everything is ok. I hope the future of your business will be more sure soon. All the best, our thoughts are with you!

As you can see from the Hamptons trip we had here a month ago, give me the Rennteam logo + products and I'll make it a best seller.

    RC, are you reading this?

    Re: Where is RC?????

Perhaps this thing should be incorporated and members wanting to make it work, can invest... and then it will be properly financed with a definitive plan... This board could have alot to offer the car enthusiats...beyond the marque brands and that translates to audience. Audience makes for ad revenue and other direct sales revenue drivers. This model would work for any enthusiast car lover whether it be miata or whatever...so it needs to be expanded and products appealing to any segment represented can be targeted directly. Stranger things have happened. Who knows maybe RC will stay on as chairman of the board Maybe the club sponsors instructor education events for thos marques represented...and rest assured the C6Z colleagues will be there..this is a great forum
