    Just specced my GT3 RS

    Hallo everybody. I'm new here and I would like to get your comments on a decision I am struggling with.

    I was just speccing my RS at the dealer today. My car will be produced in the early '07 production slot for delivery in April. I kept it quite simple:
    colour: orange (I would prefer white but Porsche has no mercy)
    PCCB; know about pros and cons but can't help it, I need to try it myself.
    Xenon lights and tinted windscreen, that's basically it.

    Now my problem, should I go for the PCM or not? Usually, I wouldn't even think about putting a nav system in such a car. But my dealer made a good point, the center console will be mounted anyway and the additional weight of the PCM is less than 2 pounds.

    Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks

    Welcome to RENNTEAM, Rrroman.

    Same here -- I'd prefer a white GT3 RS without any console, like the 996... but since this doesn't seem to be possible, I'd probably go for black (hm, or green?) exterior and PCM. PCCB is a must.

    PCM adds only 0.5 kg to the weight; is that really going to affect the performance?

    Hugely! You're only solution is to lose 500 g, or drive naked.

    I would certainly get the PCM as it is useful at the end and looks better then the console without the PCM.

    Just dont even consider the ugly Stopwatch.

    I also got the aluminum footrst (Fussstuetze im Sportlook) as it matches the others.

    Further I opted for the crusise control (tempomat) for all the speed limit zones that lead to the track. And then leather, I just think it looks cheap otherwise. irrespective that it is a RS...

    Otherwise great car and enjoy!!

    Seriously, you wont notice that difference at all. Even though its a VERY small weight, the fact that its from the PCM, which is basically in the centre of the car, will minimize the difference even more.


    unless of course youre really really HARDCORE, in which case you shaould drive naked, just to save the few pounds

    ...having no aircon in my 964, while beeing on the track this summer I was actually considering driving naked numerous times. However, the weight wasn't my point, (though I hardly believe it adds only 1/2 kg) but don't you think it looks kind of odd in such a car?

    Btw, it was quite surprising to me that the silver one comes with orange wheels. Has anybody seen a pictures yet?

    Even if it is the RS so maybe lots of track days and less touring I will still go for the PCM because it looks like a must to resell the car at a certain point.

    And for the white color... Porsche should allow to get all RS's in normal GT3 colors, or in white at least. Personalized chart color would be the summum.
