Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Nice find. I am a little dissappointed to hear there may be no power increase. Kind of uncharacteristic of porsche imo, but the article does leave the door open, so to speak.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Don't worry, there will be a power increase. There has always been a power increase with each face-lift, and this one should be no different (unless they've changed their minds since I last saw the upgrade timeline... )

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Good to know, thanks groom. Interesting road tests. Look at the power increase, yet some performance times stay the same.

and ? What is the exact month?

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

    I don't remember!

I swear, they must have erased my memory on my way out right before I turned over my badge...

Yes, signing a non-disclosure contract will do that to a person .

Don't you have a disclosure contract with Rennteam? ALL info has to be shared!!!! You could be banned by not complying to the rule and not helping fellow members who are still in the dark and are desperate to see the light

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

    That's a point a view worth considering

I generally try to walk a thin line between giving sufficient pointers (or non-strategic information) and fully disclosing everything (which is, obviously, a huge no-no).

Anyway, as time passes, my first-hand information grows increasingly obsolete, and there are a few cases, such as this one, where I just really don't remember the exact figure.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

i just wish i knew whether it is worth the wait or order a 07 now...

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

I am gonna wait. Especially after what Groom said.

I would' nt expect anything else...

It's a never-ending game. There's always something better around the corner.
I buy a new computer when I need it, not when a new product is released. If I had waited, I'd still be using a typewriter and a slide rule.

I agree, but "need" rarely applies to a porsche purchase. It is usually "desire" or "want".

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

Good point. There's still always something more desirable around the corner, though.

If you're afraid that ordering today might be a bad idea, get a recent certified pre-owned 997 (or a showroom model) now and order a facelifted version in 2 years.
It also has the benefit that you get to use the car today, instead of in 2 years. And you will know which options you really want to order on "your" car, and which you don't need.

Thanks for help, so you mean there will be no facelift until 2008....

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

I did not say any such thing. I didn't say there would be, either. To make things even muddier, keep in mind MY 2008 begins in September 2007...

I advised waiting 2 years purely on a monetary point of view. Getting a new car every year gets really expensive really fast.

I read on another site that MY 07 is a short run, with the 08 due in late spring or summer of 07. I think I can live with my 03 until then. I don't want to go 03 to 06(leftover) then 08. This kind of habit gets very expensive.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

A very likely scenario will be official release of info and pictures around June '07 , world premiere at the IAA in September '07.
Orders will be accepted at the time when info/pricing/pictures are released. First deliveries will start immediately after the show.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

So you don't think that the MY 08 cars will be released until Sept or Oct of 07? That would be the regular time for a release of the model. Maybe so. That would be about a year from now.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

it just seems interesting to me to introduce the new turbo and turbo S and then intoduce the facelift.;.

shouldnt the new turbo be introduced after the facelift????

Why?!? Just because they did that before?
Maybe porsche reasons that they can sell the turbo, and then the facelift carrera's, and after that maybe the turbo with a facelift... remember; the more money they'll probably earn, the more likely it is that porsche will do it

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

With the 996 it was turbo than facelift.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

I just fid it hard to swallow that they'd introduce the Targa4's as a new line, and then a year later, offer a facelift. What a stab in the back to all those people who buy the Targa (let alone a stab in the back to all those who bought other 911's).

On the 996, a facelift was required because of the outrage over the headlights, but no such controversy exists over the 997. Everybody simply loves it. There is no other motivation besides greed.

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

    True,
Don't introduce an entire new model, which would be very expensive to engineer, but just slap on some new bodypanels! maybe increase power a bit, which should also be easy because it was pre-engineered.... I can imagine that people find it disgusting.

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

I had an order for a 997 S Cabriolet for March 2007, I have now delayed it, after hearing about the midlife update. The facelifted version will be shown at Paris Motor Show in September 2007 and then go on sale after that, so only 13 months to go and counting

There is no show in Paris in 07.
Paris show is every two years.
Porsche cars are constantly updated, I had a similar discussion with RC.
Problem is people keep waiting and pushing back bc there's always an updated model coming soon.
Just take the plunge. 13 months is a long time and I dont' believe a 997S cab can't be had before March 07, especially London.

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

Any news of the new engines?

Re: HOT: Pictures of 997 Facelift!!!!

What about an interior facelift? I don't like the position of the PCM being off-centered. Any guess as if that will be changed or enhanced? Maybe a touchscreen?

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

The face-lifts are expected after 3 years ----- fair enough. They are rather trivial, AFAWK, and the way you present the car....... a good color choice and optimum wheels etc..... is much more important. You can do all sorts of things to make your car unique, regardless of face-lifts.

    Enjoy whta you have------

    Cheers

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

I agree, enjoy what you have. That said, I still say look at the difference between the 01 and 02 996. Which would you rather have? Maybe the changes won't be that dramatic.
    Enjoy what you have.
