Re: getting ready for Australia PDE, anyone been there before?
hi wr, i have attended levels 1, 2 and 3 at queensland pde. i have to say they are well worth the money and time spent. the instructors, led by tomas mezera, are great fun and make the 3 days very enjoyable and you will gain a lot from their instruction. level 1 and 2 are held at mount cotton test centre where they also teach ambulance and fire engine drivers how to drive fast and safe. there are off road courses, a skid pan track where you learn to "drift" and a big open car park where your drive around a wet circuit made of cones and a road circuit for high speed driving. level 3 is held at queensland raceway on a race circuit. as with all pde, you will be taught good accelerator and brake controls, good driving lines and some emergency exercises. all the students share the cars and you will get plent of seat time, particularly on level 3. there is also a level 4 course which is 996 cup car driving experience. i am attending that on 13 september next month at queensland raceway. all in all, i think you will gain a great deal from the pde's and i certainly improved my track time at sepang after my training in queensland with tomas and co. my only advice is to try and do levels 1 2 and 3 at the same time, saves the flying in and out, but then again, the goldcoast isn't the worst place in the world to spend a weekend... good luck and enjoy yourself.
