    NavTeq CD/DVD updates

What is the deal with Porsche and NavTeq updates? On my BMW's and MB's I simply order the DVD from NavTeq once or twice a year. My 06 C2S was delivered to me in July with a 4Q 05 DVD - apparently the latest version (??) I called NavTeq and they advised me that updates are only available from the local Porsche dealer. Is this true?

    Re: NavTeq CD/DVD updates

This would appear to be another way to relieve you of money via Porsche branding. The info is probably identical but I bet the price wont be.

    Re: NavTeq CD/DVD updates

Whats to stop a few of us getting together to get an update DVD and sharing the cost between us? It might be against the spirit of any licences, but I'm against the spirit of being ripped off.

    Re: NavTeq CD/DVD updates

Why don't you read the booklet which came with your NAVTEQ DVD before making incorrect statements.

It gives you a tel. number and web site if you have a problem or WISH TO ORDER AN UPDATE direct from NAVTEQ.

BTW: Per NAVTEQ the LATEST version for the US is
    for year 2004 . Updates when available are ~ $ 200 US

There are later versions available, but you might have to also update your PCM version. I know that there is at least a late 2005 version, but to use it in my 2005 I would also have to update my version of the PCM software. That makes it cost closer to $500.

    Thanks Phil .
I spoke with NAVTEQ prior to making the above statement .
I told them I have an '05 997 S and was told that the 2004 DVD was the latest .
I will check with my dealer re. PCM software update .

    Re: NavTeq CD/DVD updates

I too spoke with NavTeq before starting this thread. NavTeq CS told me the DVD disc updates for my 2006 were only available through the Porsche dealer - that is why I was trying to confirm this through someone who had done so.

Sounds like we are getting a different story depending on who answers the phone . Lol
