Difference Between the M96 and M97 engines
Despite seeing the terms used on a number of posts, I am still not clear as to what the differences are between the M96 and M97 versions of Porsche engines.
I have a 2006 911S (I took delivery in February of this year). My certificate of authenticity states that it has an M96/03 engine. However, when looking under the car, I can see an M97 stamped on the bottom of the engine.
I don't have any oil leaks (no RMS problems, and I have 4,000 miles on it).
So what, if any, are the differences?
Jim
