    Classic Formula One

You'll never see F1 like this again...

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=dr_6mA8Q2tI&search=david%20hobbs

You'll have to watch ALMS to get this kind of action these days.

The cars rely much more on aerodynamics and you can't get that close to another car without upsetting the balance of the car, due to disturbed airflow over the aero surfaces of the chassis.

    1. Areodynamic - More downforce than before and the byproduct is effectihg the stability of car behind.
    2. Speed - The current F1 is alot faster than before. In "old" F1 case, Let assume one car is 3-5km/h faster after a corner. the car behind still have time to be side-by-side at the end of another corncer (not only the longest striaght).
    3. Point system.
    4. More safety concern than before. So, passing through pits stop.
    5. F1 drivers are too rich.

    Anything more?

    Re: Classic Formula One

    6. Girliemen behind the wheel.
    7. Drivers do not have to overtake other drivers to become champion.
    8. Gay midgets can also participate

    Re: Classic Formula One

Makes me realize how bad the racng has become. I still love F1, but am more looking forward to 2008 every day.

Actually MotoGP offers this kind of action on a very regular basis. The 2006 Mugello race was particularly outstanding.

    Re: Classic Formula One

I knew there was a reason I became an F1 fan.

Unfortunately, tuning in now is just a habit and not a good one at that!!

    Re: Classic Formula One

    Awesome Footage!!

I remember reading Enzo Fer Biog which stated that one of his all time favourite drivers was Gilles Vill.

Not because he was a good driver!!

But because he always drove the car with sheer determination rather than skill.

This is what we want to see, not a show of money and technical excellence at the expense of entertainment!

    Re: Classic Formula One

WOW! This is why I love the sport so much!

    Re: Classic Formula One

Teams then had a crew size of about 15.

    Now it is 150.

F1 is killing itself with its own technology.

    I agree with that 100%.

    Re: Classic Formula One

Scoff if you wish - but this is why NASCAR is so popular now even with the rich and educated.

250 to 500 mile long races at 200 mph where the lead can
change hands every lap and even many times in the same lap. There is constant passing and battling. That hasnt happened in F1 for decades

The venues. The crowd is close to the action and two of the races in the season are very technical road circuits. The latest F1 circuits place the fans too far from the track.

F1 needs to bring back racing and stop the cult of personality driver syndrome and tech over kill. They need to be more respectful to the fans and give them a better show for their money.
