yes..but is not right versus people that order a brand new turbo,a targa or something else..to change this parts so soon..

i believe in Porsche, they can't make us a thing like this..

    Darius,

The turbo looks different from any other 911 and Targa has the complete black roof/top that hardly can be mistaken by other 911 models, so I don't see any threats to these owners.

As to the current Carrera owners we all knew that after a 4 year run there will be some cosmetic changes as it happened to 996 models too.

I like the rear better it seems to me it blends much nicer and rounder.

Other than that I still see the stop watch on the dash .

    yes..

    but...

is not right to change the tail lights..

    hahah

Think of it as "correcting" them making them more classic, more timeless.

The existing pointy-curved tailights I never _really_ liked. They look too stylish and trendy. Like Porsche jumped on the BMW bandwagon

Re: new 997 "restyling"pics cought at Nurburgring

I think these new rear lights look more BMW than the current rear lights.

Re: new 997 "restyling"pics cought at Nurburgring

    I think is a new 997 turbo-look!!

    Good eye!

Re: new 997 "restyling"pics cought at Nurburgring

Current TT owners do not have to worry about their cars becoming obsolete one year into production, they should be glad instead that Porsche just made theirs much more exclusive!

Re: new 997 "restyling"pics cought at Nurburgring

    best looking 911 ass IMO

Re: new 997 "restyling"pics cought at Nurburgring

On the left the Cayenne facelift and the right the Carrera '' facelift''.... This shape of tail light could be the new style.

And what are those red things... on both cars ?

Re: new 997 "restyling"pics cought at Nurburgring

LOL Gnil, I noticed exactly the same, see my post in the cayenne board... funny! I wouldn't bother too much about those red things. They could just be anything, from sensors to pieces of foam to protect parts from slamming into other parts... Maybe somebody who is into automotive engineering can enlighten us? I might maybe within half a year, because I accepted a job offer in Aircraft engineering, which is highly the same up to certain borders (Mach 1 )

..and this is an Audi A3 Sportback

Re: new 997 "restyling"pics cought at Nurburgring

The strange little oblong red sections look like they are stick on temporary reflectors which will be required as the normal reflector portion of the rear lights on both the Cayenne and 997 models in these shots are hidden by camo' tape.

Maybe It's something needed to comply with the law as the cars's rear lights are covered. Cars still have to be road legal. It might be just a piece of plastic to refletcs the lights of others cars

Re: new 997 "restyling"pics cought at Nurburgring

I think you are correct they seem to be for compliance. Here is a pic with cayeene facelift and it shows similar brake lights and those rear reflectors.

Re: new 997 "restyling"pics cought at Nurburgring

It just doesn't matter! I love my 997S as it is! Not too busy, and working so well!

...could be pedestrian air-bags to comply with new collision-friendly Euro regulations?

Re: new 997 "restyling"pics cought at Nurburgring

I think you hit the nail on its' head... at least, that's what it looks like in the last pic... stupid we didn't think of it earlier, and thanks for enlightening us!

Re: new 997 "restyling"pics cought at Nurburgring

Guys this is the new '07-08 C4S with mild fascia improvements and a rear reflector strip. They were just waiting until the TT was out to release this baby. Feel sorry for you guys who bought the 'plain version' C4S, but I saw this coming a mile away. There is no way porsche was going to bail on the turbo look rear strip C4S concept, they just had to wait.
I also predict the demise of the 3.6 with the 355 3.8 being std in the 997 and the 381 3.8 std in the S with a x51 option later.

So does this mean that the refresh for the remaining 911 models won't be until the '09 model year?

Re: new 997 "restyling"pics cought at Nurburgring

Thanks for the pictures. Without the camouflage the car looks great. Initially I was apprehensive of the LED rearlights but now I am welcoming the new units.
