Small Veyron

Small Bugatti with 1100 kg and 320 hp, and all that for just 50 000 EUR

I think it is to nice to be true

Did anyone have any news or rumours about this car ?

It would be made on new TT / Golf GTI platform, with VAG turbo engine (problalby new 2.5 Turbo which will be in TT S) and DSG transmition. This car will be in same class as TT , Z4, Cayman / Boxster.

impossible.....and it looks like the veyron.....no way they would position a bugatti in the same category as a boxster

This is just a artist's impressions of how a small Bugatti may look like. Anyway the last rumours that I have heard is that they are going to build before this a saloon using a detuned version of the Veyron. And then just looking to the difference btw Veyron's 1000hp to this 320hp.... it is not realistic at all. I mean with such difference you just thrash the image of the Veyron. 320 is even less than the normal Carrera.....so this is just imagination of somebody frustrated he can't ever have a Veyron!

While we're on the subject, do anyone have more info regarding Ferraris plans to withdraw from F1 in favor of Tractor Pulling next year? MS is reported to be excited

I know that there is very small chance that Bugatti would do that, but on the other hand it is true that they have big money loss with Veyron and mybie they need a car, which would be more reachable (like Porsche did with 986).

If they do cheaper Bugatti, problably will not look similar as Veyron, because that would be unfair to Veyron`s buyers... And ofcourse this one is Photoshop, because there isnt been made even test mule for that car...

ed_moree: 320 hp isnt a lot, and yes Carrera has more hp, but if you look to this power/weigt radio is this "small Bugatti" much better than Carrera...

elysium: Not good comparison, Ive just copy/paste news from quite quality car magazine...

The car you describe would be way, way too cheap for a Bugatti. That said, a $250,000 baby Bugatti would make sense (except for the overlap with the Murcielago and a possible 911 GT1).
Anyway, I doubt they can make a mid-engined car on a Golf platform!

I think everyone (especially VW shareholders) agrees that Bugatti need a more affordable car after using the Veyron as a marque builder. But a Golf derivated Bugatti would be so destructive for the brand it would turn into a joke, and surely slow down Veyron sales hugely (the production of which is far from complete). The Veyron is big in every way, it's power, weight and it's luxury, this would the exact opposite.

I don't know autobild very well, but this is not quality journalism. Like Porsche's intro into Nascar and the Gemballa projected CGT suddenly turning into something Porsche would make, this is one of those HIGHLY unlikely thing journalists seem to write when they are completely out of ideas. As I belive mankind are free to decide their future I can't make any guarantee against it, but until anything more reliable and logical information comes along I'll place this in my BS category

Far more likely, is that this car will actually be the Audi-badged competitor to the Lotus Elise, which Audi is making in collaboration with a motorcycle company.

BTW, the VW-Lotus $20k USD 3-wheeler project was recently scrapped.

elysium: I agree about this price (50 000 EUR), because I know that Bugatti cant costs same as loaded BMW 3 series, which is under range at BMW

Ofcourse I cant even dream about Veyron (LOL), but reachable mean that it would be in price range as Carrera. That would be cool, because car would still be very expensive, but would be reachable and I think that they would sell quite a lot of those cars, what would solve their financial problems
