    Re: My 997TT test drive

And my car has barely 3000 km on the speedo. Wait until I have 10000.

Here are my results from various runs today:

    200 kph to 305 kph: 23.4 to 23.6 seconds (did 3 rounds)
    100 kph to 200 kph: 7.5 to 7.7 seconds (did 3 rounds)
    Speeds are speedo displayed speeds!

GPS measured speed errors (speedo vs. real speed):

    200 kph = 191 kph
    300 kph = 287 kph
    326 kph = 311 kph (top speed)

So yes, the 997 Turbo definetely does 0-300 kph in under 40 seconds, pretty impressive for a stock car.
And the measured times also show that the manual 6 speed has no true advantage in the higher speed range.

    Impressive

Assume you did these msmts in auto mode (BTW, do you ever really use manual mode on Tip?...or is auto mode fastest in straight-line/twisties for amateur drivers?)

Interesting that we haven't seen published instrumented testing of 599 yet....will be intrigued to see how 997TT Tip compares to 599 and SL65 in 100-200KPH and 200-300KPH accel.....where 100-200 is highly relevant for various urban CA fwys, but 200-300 is obviously German AB-only relevant

Just to clarify, you started at the stated speeds and went WOT? The times are not measured under full acceleration from below the start speed with the stopwatch started as you accelerate through either 100 or 200 kph?

    Thanks

Of course I started below those mentioned speeds and started to measure the time when I hit those speeds.
I assume MKSGR did the same.

    Re: My 997TT test drive

I just want to make sure I understand the testing protocol in case I time my car.

Thank you RC, that completes the essential straight line data. Now we just need track comparisons between manual/LSD and Tip to assess the traction differences.

    Very interesting results

BTW: How warm was it when you did the test?

When you have 10.000, the car is going to become a safety hazard for low-flying aircraft .
