    Ordering Turbo Wheels on a 987

    I just ordered my 07 Boxster S and was disappointed to find out they wouldn't let me order the new Turbo type wheels. I had heard they could be put on the 07. Has anyone been able to get a car ordered with the Turbos? The dealer thinks that they might be released later due to supply issues. The dealer was able to order a C2 with the wheels. Are all 997 and 987 wheels interchangeable?

    No, as the wheel widths on the 997 are wider than the 986.

    Besides, the Carerra Classics are the best look

    I think they would not allow 19" turbo wheels for 987 for obvious reasons. They need to protect it's premium products the 911. As a priority, they must protect the current TURBO waiting list and buyers. The 2007 Boxster S in Hong Kong won't be delivered until early 2007 or March 2007 and I suspect that the turbo wheels won't be available for retro-fitting until 2007 to be honest. After more turbo roll out then they may allow for it.

    It is probably just a supply issue for the 987, as they are different wheels.

    Here is the excerpt from the Porsche AG press release about the
    2007 Boxster:

    "For the first time, the Boxster and Boxster S are available with the 19-inch turbo
    forged alloy two-tone wheels that were developed exclusively for the new 911 Turbo.
    For Boxster models they are offered as an option in sizes 8 J x 19 (front) and 9 1/2 J x 19 (rear)."

    All down to supply - if you really wnat them then you'll have to hold back your order until thay are configurable, or hope that by the time your order becomes finalised for build they become selectable.

    They are on the new Cayman 2.7 U.K.configurator at a price of GBP 2,290 which looks like it is updated for 2007, unlike the Cayman S or the Boxsters. Cayman 2.7 configurator also shows cobalt as a standard metallic and lapis a special. Seal grey has gone to be replaced by meteor. Guess Porsche haven't got round to updating the existing 2006 model range yet.

    Big money for the Turbo wheels, and IMHO wasted as the Carerra S and Classic give you the 19'' look for over Pounds300 less. Whilst I agree Pounds300 isn't much in the grand scheme of things, it is, say, heated seats instead if you budget is tight, and I will NEVER go without Heated Seats again!!

    Thanks for the input. I think they will be worth the money. My car will be Atlas Gray with black guts. Good aftermarket wheels cost a lot more.

    I was able to confirm the order on the Turbo style wheels. They cost around $2400 MSRP. I'm good with that.

    I dig that look. As a matter of fact if that is Atlas Gray then that's what my new ride should look like. In California it's acceptable to have a little bling. Trust me I have seen some wild cars wheels that should have never been put on the road unless you like things that spin, light up and have more gold than the Sir Paul.
