Then they show a gen two which had the cut off tail lights. I did like my Turbo but not because of its looks. 911s are fundamentally ugly like James Colburn. That is what makes them cool. Talking about colors and options and body styles misses the point They are just cool. Trying too hard to option them is not.

The 991 is in my opinion the best looking 911 ever but it is not in the list. Neither is the fantastic looking Huracan but they put the new Mini Cooper and especially the 1999(!) Audi TT in it? Crazy.
I think that such "most beautiful cars" lists are very subjective. Where is the 458 there, in my opinion one of the most beautiful Ferrari models ever? Also, no Carrera GT and 918? Seriously?

Carlos from Spain:noone1:Meh. Forgettable car, nothing ground breaking or classic.
Doesn't get enough photos and compliments per day for you?
Well, we all know that just about every other 911 ever created is better looking than the 997, so what do that mean, half the cars in the Top 20 are 911s? Hell, even a 991 is way better looking than a 997.
Let's be honest, we know what keys everyone will reach for when you line a 997 up with a bunch of Lamborghinis, Ferraris, R8s, McLarens, Aston Martins, etc. Don't tell anyone the spec and we know no one is grabbing the keys to the 911. It's the reality of it. Nice car. but there are already 18 modern exotics that are better looking, not to mention classics.

Well, CGT is ugly, but yeah, 997 doesn't even hold a candle to a 918.
CGT is ugly? You clearly need a new pair of glasses (or contact lenses, whatever).

You should start all posts with the phrase "In my head... bla, bla, bla..." specially when talking about drivers cars...
Yeah, the 996 was beautiful compared to the 997

I said just about, didn't I? Obviously the 996 is one of the ugliest Porsche's every created, up there with the early Cayennes.
996 < 997 < everything else in whichever order you fancy. Resale value of standard 996 and 997 is very meh.
the comments in this thread are so entertaining.
who cares what others think about the look of a car anyway.
is there even a right or wrong answer to a subjective question?
all 911s look good, particular models of 996 such as 996.2C4S or GT3 looks good.
there is a reason why the shape of 911 looks about the same for the last 50 years, and people keep buying them.

Whoopsy:Am I the only one that thinks 996.2 headlights looks the best?
I loved that modern interpretation of the 911 headlights, but most diehard 911 and hated it.
I do. I had a C2C guard red with sand interior and wood accents for 5 years, it is stunning, I see it often as a colleague bought it. I also liked the narrow body and never liked the stripe in the C4S that came after. The 996.2 in narrow body was the last small 911, after they became really fat.
I actually had 2 of those 996 C4S coupe back then, one in black with tan interior, the other Lapis Blue with blue interior. One is a tip the other 6 speed.
I had the black one in tip first, loved the car but hated the transmission so much so that I only kept the car for 1 week and traded it in for the 6-speed. That transmission had to be the dumbest one mankind ever invented.

The 996 was ugly, especially compared to the 997 (won't even start with the 991), I agree.

997 is a car with a pretty clean shape in my opinion. Maybe not a beauty but a relief from that catastrophe 996. (and I owned three 996...C2, C4 Powerkit and 996 Turbo but mainly for the driving, not for the looks).

Well, we can only fairly judge a modern car after it becomes quite old. 10 years is long enough to say the 997 is pretty meh. Maybe in another 20 I'll say it's great, but so far it's pretty meh. I think the 991 is a vastly better looking car, but maybe that's because it's modern still. Maybe it will age the same or worse.

You use the term 'meh' a lot - what does it mean exactly??
"Things turn out best for those who make the best of the way things turn out."
I still find the 997.2 one of the prettiest 911's of the bunch. It's understated and has some beautifull, timeless lines. The 991 is even better but I think both will age pretty well.
The better question is: which sportscar will age the worst? Mclaren GT models comes to mind..

Mithras:Prettier than any 997 or 991 or 996. I wonder what it's going to go for? 10kms on it, never driven, never even had the cosmoline taken off of it...
with that red interior, red on red on red, I don't blame owner not to drive more than 10 km. but 2.2 mil is worthed?

This is a case study on how to loose value by picking an idiotic spec. Purple wheels? If the buyer had spent half the money this nutty spec cost the car would now be worth ten times as much. As it sits it will take thousands just to revive it for ok it's slumber. What a shame but I get why no one drove it. At least it is not Ronald McDonald spec.

I find 997 carreras much prettier than 991 carreras (ass is too flat on 991 )
But anything with a wind is better in 991 format...
All matter of taste..
