    Giallo 599 crashes @ Goodwood -

    INFO FROM FCHAT:
    "The yellow 599 GTB Fiorano was crashed at Goodwood by Andrea Bartolini, a pro. The car was quickly replaced by a darkred metallic 599 GTB Fiorano that had been driven from
    Maranello to Reims (France) for a photo shooting and then on to Goodwood, arriving Friday evening. The crashed yellow 599 GTB is S/N 146539, the replacement darkred 599 GTB is S/N 146165.

    Wow, that's not too cool. Between this and the Car and Driver crash I'm wondering if the 599's a little tricky? Is the power too much of a handful? A little understeer? It's hard to say but any other opinions?

    Only guesses. Until the factory delivers one to me for a extended test drive and evaluation I will not know...but usually a one car crash is a sign of too much speed for too small a corner.

    between the 599 and lp640 crashes lately , i think the 600+ hp figure is tricky to handle for non pro's

    Guys have been crumpling <<400hp cars for decades, often in single vehicle accids on dry roads....

    Would argue that those who know where/when to apply power; use all relevant computer safety nets; and have a realistic view of their own driving skills have a materially lower chance of crashing (and higher odds of surviving any crash injury-free) in 599/997TT/65 than in any of the "purer"/simpler/more analog/much less powerful cars of yesteryr.....

    Besides, one less fugly yell 599 is a net positive for the world

    Agreed

    But good to see processes of Darwinian selection in-action....and great to see early, real-world crash data for mfrs to use to refine/advance safety of future cars, esp for more responsible owners/drivers....

    If these drivers are pros would that mean they'd be driving with traction control off? I'm sure that even for a pro, no traction control would make it easy to lose control.
