Good luck blakt out with your s/c install, if the threads on 6speed are anything to go by you will have miles of hassle free fun. The only problems amongst a diversity of evo s/c drivers seems to come from the quality of the install and not the reliability of the kit or the fragility of the engine.
By the way the completely positive nature of the 6speed thread was in marked contrast to the nay-sayers on this site. I cant believe there are so many twenty something old men. "be safe buy a tt" indeed! Where have all the white knuckle racer builders gone? The USA has been the home of monster horsepower long before the euro-machines made it here, and how many of them supercharged themselves to death blowing chevies?? I tell you the safety nannies are taking over! And we are talking about barely perceptible psi to a Porsche - overbuilt by gnomes in a land where rules rule.
I am going to s/c my Aussie 996 this year probably with the TPC kit which gets its power low down and is therefore more suited to the cut and thrust of the twisties. The evo kit apparently comes on stream over 4000 rpm and seems more suited to those who want standard stress for the daily commute and room to open her up on the wide open road or the track at the weekend. Economics down here (where i am most of the year) dont allow the soft option of " oh well I will buy a TT" The difference between a 997 c2 and a 997TT (second hand cabs!!) is around 300,000- yes seriously. So we should be thankful that we can buy a TT in the US for chump change.
