    997 GT3 RS

Registered years ago I did not post too much on this site, sorry. Somebody may remember I crashed my GT3 MK2 at the Misano circuit and sadly bought a 993TT which I discovered is a great car instead. I have now placed an order for a new RS delivery Oct/Nov agw. Artic silver with black wheels, PCCB, xenon lights, no writes on the doors, that's it. I ordered this car because I really like its wide body and the way I have been told this engine rev towards the standard GT3; not last dealer promised a very limited number of cars will be produced, we'll see. I did not read too much about this car on the site, what do you think, is it gonna be a bargain priced car or standard gt3 is better?

    Cheers SM

    Re: 997 GT3 RS

The RS will be a great car in Switzerland (US version loses many of the special parts). It will be much more intense to drive than the 993TT (not any faster in a straight line, but more involving on a race circuit for sure). If you drive on the track much, this is a better choice than standard GT3 and worth the extra money. Otherwise, the standard GT3 is a more friendly everyday or street-only choice.

    Re: 997 GT3 RS

    ..welcome back to the site
Great choice, but I do not think production is limited whatsoever..

    Re: 997 GT3 RS

Gnil they have been talking of 28 cars for Switzerland, 3 in Canton Ticino. That's what I call limited production. Can guess 600 cars for the entire world. Should thy go abudantly over this figure it will be another shame.

    Cheers

    Re: 997 GT3 RS

Just talked to my dealer. He was not at work but said that he has not received any instructions about a limited supply number. He only said people will have to be patient!!!!!
    Maybe it's 28 this year

He will look into it on Thursday and let me know.

In all the magazines I read about the GT3 RS they say that this time P has not screwed their clients buy saying it is limited ( as they did with the 996 GT3 RS saying it was limited to 200 models and then raising the numbers)
So... something to check out more.

    Re: 997 GT3 RS

For sure the fact that PCCB is not standard but optional (contrary to press initial advices) at +13k chf extra cost will divert a good number of potential customers to the 'cheaper' GT3; to see many RS around would surprise me anyway, just think to the amazing list of optionals now available for GT3 (rudeness is not welcome anylonger among Porsche clients, have been told of many orders placed for cars fitted with roof etc). The cage on the RS will not count too many fans.

    Cheers
    SM

    t. We'll see. For the time being I really enjoy my 993tt whose price on the 2nd hand market well exceed what requested for newer 996tt

    Re: 997 GT3 RS

    SM,

How do you know that black is the combo w. Arctic Silver and not orange - this was not clear to me through the press release. Also, you are assuming that there is a sidestripe delete option. How do you know since there is no order guide yet?

On a separate note, my dealer told me that the 997 RS laps the Ring 15 seconds faster than the 996 RS. If that's true it will be amazing - and certainly more special than the launch info suggested.

    Re: 997 GT3 RS

On a side note: Has there been any more offical news about the RS in terms of its difference to the base GT3 (with the exception of 4S widebody, RS Wing, CF Seats, Rollcage, colors/wheels)?

Yes, that would be amazing (and hard to believe), since the 996RS came with track tires also. I hope that's true, but I'm concerned that your dealer was confused or mis informed...

You should suggest to your dealer to stop taking drugs...15 seconds faster around the Nordschleife...

    Re: 997 GT3 RS

As it turned out he was far better informed than most on the forums when it came to the 997 RS spec - he was 100% accurate months before official info - also to the disbelief of many on this forum. Anyway, we'll see soon enough

I'm not saying it's impossible - just very difficult to achieve that sort of improvement with no significant change in power/weight/tires/chassis (beyond the minor changes we've heard about). I'm thinking that maybe it's 15 sec faster than a GT3 MkII with street tires at best. I hope it's true

    Grande Max! ahahaha!

    Re: 997 GT3 RS

It will be very interesting to see.....

Has anyone got more info re. the delays of the GT3?? Haven't heard anything for a while, hmmmm! Does the delays also concern the RS (guess so)??

He could be well informed about specs of the car and everything concerning the sales side...but I can assure you that an hypotetic lap time of 7.32" for the 997 GT3RS it's completely out of this world. Believe me!

JFT I have signed a contract with the dealer for an Arctic Silver car with black wheels. The sidestripe will be removed by the dealer itself and not really an option you can get from manufacturer.
