well, we all seem to have our viewpoints but whereas the F430 is definitely the exotic, with the bells and whistles, the tt is more the functional tool. brings an interesting question, what do you guys think of the Gallardo?...seems to lie in the middle of the two, with exotic looks and sounds but the dependability of Audi and all-wheel drive!

Can't agree about the 430 being exotic (since this is an international board - may well be in the US), but the Gallardo is sweet. It truly looks the part. More exotic for my tastes, than the 430.

Most votes would have gone toward the 911 if this pole was on the Turbo board, for example...

    Re: 997 TT or 430

That pole was taken 3 months ago before anyonme drove the Turbo or any tests were done....Things should be different now..

    Re: 997 TT or 430

Most of the voters have never driven either car. It's just a fantasy poll.

    Re: 997 TT or 430

Yeah but a few mags have tested it.... Most are positive...

Dont want a back and forth argument about something so stupid and I'm guessing neither do you

I say we only let people from places other than the US vote, to get an accurate representation. Anyone living in the US would be crazy to not take a 430 at MSRP, but that's not the case in the real world. It's only in places where both cars are easily obtainable, that the poll would be accurate (Ferrari artificially propping up its US market is a dishonest tactic, especially because you can get one in Europe with no difficulties).

    Re: 997 TT or 430

Impossible to pick one or the either.

    I couldnt agree more

    Re: 997 TT or 430

Here is what an owner of a 997S had to say:

    >> The Turbo (IMHO) just doesn't have the looks and the passion (compared to Italian alternatives) that a Pounds100k+ supercar should have. Plus my current Carrera S is just as good a GT car as the TT given the speed limits here outside of German Autobarns

You must admit he has a point.

    In any other case: F430.

Fun car for the weekends: F430 Spider.
Fun car daily driver: 997 Turbo.

I would love to own both but I would never buy the F430 Coupe, especially not after today.
Oh, I would also add a Z06 to my garage. It would be my "don't care if I crash" fun toy.

I didn't get it why would u never by the 430 coupe, and why not after today.

    Re: 997 TT or 430

F430 by far. I hate the fact that you have to look behind a porsche to see what it says to be able to tell what model it is. THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME.

Funny you should say that... I have exactly the same with the 360 and the 430... I have to walk to the front bevore I see the difference!

    Re: 997 TT or 430

I believe what gianni meant was the mutiple variants that the P-car have for any single type (996/997), eg, Carrera, CarreraS, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, Targa, Turbo, TurboS, GT3, GT2.
On the contrary, the F-car (360) has only the Modena and the CS. Currently the F430 has only ONE variant for the street.

The only invisible difference between those cars is RWD/AWD. The Turbo is CLEARLY distinguishable from others, as are the targa and the convertibles. Same goes for the GT2/GT3. The Ferraris, on the other hand, all look bland and the same. You have to accept that we may think the same about your vehicles.

    I like it

However, the picture could have been improved by showing also the car parking in front of yours

    Re: 997 TT or 430

That black F430 is a beauty.

I can't understand why you ear more and more that the F430 looks dated.

Looks much more modern to me than the 997 TT or Gallardo too angular.

If I had to choose just one, would be the F430 by far for a week-end use (like my 360 spider) and the TT for a "every day" use.

    Nothing really new here...

Different tastes. There are people, believe it or not, who think the 430 looks like crap (I don't).

Thank you for this highly interesting information.

    Re: 997 TT or 430

If you could own both the 430 & the 997 Turbo and wanted one to be a convertible the ONLY way to do and cut the roof off IMO is to have the everyday car, the one that's a little less of a track car and more GT'ish into the cabriolet...... In other words the 997 turbo. Plus the 997 looks great as a cab the 430 loses the VERY BEST part of the whole design of the car; it's entire roofline. Plus if you notice when the 997 is convertible the only part affected visually is the roof, the rear of the car is the same. In the 430, the Spider's roof AND the whole rear of the car is changed for the worse. The whole rear portion of the car is completely flat. The rear glass is flat and about half the size as the coupe's. And w/ the top up the car is really awkward/squareish... Makes more sense to me to make a convertible out of the 4 seat GT car not the 2 seat racer ,enjoying the convertible part 20 times more than if you made the weekend car a convertible. The weekend track car should be as hard edged as possible not a cabriolet and the everyday car should give you the ability to enjoy the convertible for the majority of total miles driven and with the family..........JMHO of course that's what works best for me right now. I almost made a mistake (for me) and switched my cars to a 430 Spider (for pleasure/track) and a 997 turbo coupe (everyday commuter) but after I thought about it for a long time and realized this combo that I'm using now (cab for everyday & w/ kids AND coupe for the race car)works best.
