    This looks interesting a 911 competitor. But looks more like a AMG GT-S.

    Hope BMW can sort out the sound of their engines. They are by far the worst of the main manufactures right now.

    That's very interesting regarding the 6-series.  Makes me wonder about the future of the M4?  Already the M4 is heavier, bigger, and more clumsy than a 911.

    First car I've seen on the road, was parked Zurich Center, just around Paradeplatz. Looked much better in flesh than on pictures.

    HHR 1.09,6 min., same time as 991.2 Carrera S. The M4 GTS used Cup 2 tires...mail

    NBR 7.37 min., 3 seconds slower than 991.2 Carrera S.

    Yes, it was hot (over 30°C) but still...

    They put the car on the dyno, it produced 533 hp. Still...0-100 kph in 3.9 seconds and 0-200 kph in 12.3 seconds, not exactly amazing either.

    Good but not amazing.

    The major handicap of this car seems to be it's weight: 1601 kg...this is basically R8 V10 Plus territory and the R8 has AWD. I guess with 150-200 kg less, the M4 GTS would be a monster.

    I agree but even the M2 is way too heavy...

    Suggestion for BMW: Offer an optional (for good money!) weight saving package for the M2, let's say 50 kg for 5000 EUR and customers will love it. Smiley

    The 2-series is basically the same chassis as a 3 and 4 series with a slightly shortened wheelbase.  In order to lose meaningful weight, it needs its own smaller (not just shorter) chassis.

    We all knew it was coming and at the Shanghai Auto Show, BMW has unveiled the M4 CS, a potent variant that slots between the M4 Competition Package and the range-topping M4 GTS.

     

     

    The modifications start with the engine. BMW's M division has tweaked the familiar 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six engine to now deliver 454 hp and 442 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque. Those figures represent a 29hp and 37 lb-ft leap over the standard M4 and are 10 hp and 37 lb-ft more than the M4 Competition package.

     

     

     

     

    This results in a 32 kg (71 lbs) weight saving over the M4 and 10 kg (22 lbs) over the M4 Competition Package.

     

     

     

     

    the weight savings and extra grunt propel the M4 CS from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in a mere 3.9 seconds, 0.3 seconds quicker than the M4 Competition Package. The top speed meanwhile sits at a limited 174 mph (278 km/h).

     

     

     

     

    BMW says that it lapped the 'Ring in 7 min and 38 seconds, which makes it slower than the GTS (7:27.88), and just as fast as the Porsche 991 Carrera S.
