    Porsche Short Shifter Kit

    Any comments on Porsche short shifter kit, versus others? Seems a tad expensive ($700 installed), but it is a Porsche product. Am considering the kit for my 2001TT.

    Probably covered in prior posts--if so please advise thread...

    Part is available thru Porche as a retrofit. Nice improvement over stock. I bought mine from Suncoast for $475. I believe B&M makes it for Porsche.

    Save $250 an just buy the B&M. It is identical.

    Identical? The same manufacturer?
    One major reason to go for the original parts is the warranty.
    An aftermarket short shifter can void the warranty for the gearbox, I'm not kidding.
    And the most funniest thing I saw on a tuned Turbo with an aftermarket short shifter: it broke.

    Quality isn't always the same and Tuners and/or part sellers are usually very enthusiastic about their products. Identical doesn't always mean the "same".

    I believe B&M makes the shifter for Porsche as a subcontractor. They also make the under the car short shifter that is sold under various names.

    I had the Dealer install the short shifter. My 03tt was one of the problem trannys that popped out of gear, Porche replaced it no problem. So I opted for a Porche part to avoid any future problems if tranny acts up.
