    GT3 order

The decision between my car, a 997 Turbo, a 997 GT2 and a 997 GT3 was difficult; they are all excellent cars. But the GT2 is too long for me to wait and the 997 Turbo is too GT for my taste.

My car is great and I am very satisfied with it, but it is time for a new experience. The GT3 is slightly slow at high speeds, yet this minor shortfall is balanced with an enormous fun factor on every road and track excursion. I can't resist a car with 1.4 g of lateral grip.

I have just ordered a GT3 with the options below. Thanks for your patience with my changes and your help with the decision.

    Code Tax-free Euro
    997 810 93,000 997 GT3
    720 Atlas grey metallic
    0 Black non-leather interior

    567 85 Windscreen tint
P12 445 Auto dimming mirrors and rain sensor

    810 140 floor mats
EZA 620 carbon package (dash, gear knob, hand brake).
X69 440 door entry guards carbon
    XXZ 150 foot rest aluminium
    -----------------------------------
    108,335 Euro tax-free

    Re: GT3 order

    Good Choice!

    Re: GT3 order

    mine is similar ....
but for me the Auto dimming mirrors and rain sensor in a clubsportpackage is useless ....and remember that the stock gear knob is in alcantara (like the steering wheel) : buy the car without carbon option and buy later only the tequipment carbon set (only dash) .....and put the tunnel in carbon!

    imho obviously

    Re: GT3 order

very nice specs (but i too would go w/out carbon interior trim / add them later on).

    Re: GT3 order

    Congratulation! Another GT3 owner!

    Re: GT3 order

Congrats! You finally arrived to make your choice.
When do yo expect the delivery?

    Re: GT3 order

I am still unsure of the PCCB from a cost / maintenance perspective. I also added the PCM as it really adds no weight and you get all the benefits No leather pack? I always think Porsches look cheap without it and you are spending a lot of money already might as well make it look nice.

I any event your car will look great.

    Re: GT3 order

    not cheap ....but racing !

    Re: GT3 order

    awesome choice
I just hope it suits you family needs

The PCM looks cluttered to me and I have portable Nav that works well.

I prefer non-leather interiors. Leather is slippery and I can do without dead cows in the cockpit.

My son is five and likes racing. He is old enough to sit in the front now. I will get an RS4 Avant for snow and bigger family excursions.

    Re: GT3 order

If I could afford it, an RS4 and GT3 would be perfect

    Re: GT3 order

AUM, I hope you know what you're doing. Add the Michelin Cup tires to the 997 Turbo and you get the same lateral accel. And there is always "air" for more power, something you can't do on the GT3 unless you're willing to invest a lot of money.

I would have bought BOTH, the 997 Turbo AND GT3 at the same time but if I would need only one car (and I do), I'd go with the Turbo. You rely too much on the SPORT AUTO Supertest and you'll have the shock of your life when you read the 997 Turbo Supertest...with Michelin Cup by the way. Anyway: congrats.

When do you get your GT3?

    Re: GT3 order

AUM - just to make sure you're realizing that your spec has put you into RS price territory. Also without leather! You will forego PCCB, but that's what I would anyhow do contrary to RC. Anyway - that's what I did. You will be very happy either way. Congrats!

    Re: GT3 order

Repeat after me: Full leather, full leather, full leather.

Full leather should be standard on every 911. It takes the interior from a 7 to 9.5. Seriously.

Yes, but a portable Nav doesn't look great in a 997....

    Re: GT3 order

very nice spec ...CF would look great

    Re: GT3 order

Excellent spec AUM. I also agree with you that the leather doesn't suit the GT3's charecter.

RC, maybe the lateral acceleration is the same but both cars feel so different. It is that feel that makes me wait for a GT3. The turbo is a great car but it is heavy and feels it. A friend of mine drove a 997 turbo and a 997 GT3 back to back in the factory and is ordering the GT3 based on his impressions. It's a case of different strokes for different folks.:)

The dealer just told me I might get a GT3 in November or December 06, just in time for the snow. This is a not the best time to change from a TT to a GT3 andI have not confirmed the order.

I am continuously amazed by the versatility and amazing performance of my car. The H&R suspension changes the character of the 996 TT significantly; it is a major improvement. The car feels extremely stable and glued to the road in all circumstances. I drove 800 kms today, including 10 laps on the NBR, and saw 320 kph on the speedo on the way home.

In theory RC imay be right, but the 997 TT has yet to stir a desire for ownership in me. Perhaps this will change with a test drive, but I doubt it. I need a stronger incentive than a 997 TT to let go of my near-perfect car.

In the meantime I will look for a late August 2006 GT3 in other countries.
