I need your help (for advice)

As some of you may know, I ordered a GT3, with expected delivery time end of may.
Last week, dealer called and delayed the car about 2 months (delivery end of july), but proposed me a GT3 MY04 SC configuration, which was cancelled by the customer.
First I suspect that the delay is a kind of way to sell the car in stock.
The car is a bit different as the one I ordered, and they have to add some options at the garage :
    1. cruise control
    2. change seats (the SC one's are w/o leather)
    3. add the central console
    4. dashboard in silver etc ...
I suppose the customer lost his "engagement money". B/c as far as i know, they won't accept any order without "engagement".
They also have another GT3 in stock, in yellow (which I don't like). So they have 2 GT3's in stock, plus mine who will come end of july.
For me no problem to wait one or two months more, really ... even if I think one month is enough.
Do you think I should negotiate the price of that car in stock, because i suppose that they will keep the engagement money, since the customer cancelled the order.Plus the dealer told me that the car is identical on every points with the one I ordered ... he lies. I think the SC has a single mass flywheel, right ?
In general, for every kind of stuff, i would negotiate, but with a Porsche, don't know....
    What would you do ?
    your opinion is appreciated

Re: I need your help (for advice)

Are you sure it is not a GT3 RS ?

Re: I need your help (for advice)

    Negociate of course!
No matter the brand, Porsche, Ferrari, always negotiate man!
I'm surprised about this non refundable engagement thing.
The other client who just canceled his GT3 should have gotten his money back. Unless it's because the car has actually arrived and they're stuck wiht it, ok, that makes sense then.
If you're going for the CS, defenitly negotiate as it is not exactly the way you want it.
You should even negociate for yours.
My dealer gives me 5% on a GT3 and that's without negotiating .
PS: Consider the Fact I've bought him a Boxster S and C4C in less than 4 years, I suppose costumer loyalty helps bc I didn't get any discount on the Boxster S and 3% on the C4C. Man at this rate, I'll pay my 10th Porsche half price!

Re: I need your help (for advice)

IMO it's an obligation for normal customers to give a warranty found for the order. We are used to leave 10% of the total price. I did, and I suppose the client for the GT3 CS did aswel. What happens when you canceled your order and the car arrives ?? Again IMO, the warranty found stays for the dealer. Also, I can change my GT3 "normal" for a RS, but it's not really what I want, especiealy in white, people here around won't understand you spend more than 100 K Euro for a body in white car ...

Ron: Remember that in markets outside North America the GT3 is avilable in a Club Sport configuration.

    to jacey:

if there are no leather seats in it, the car is in clubsport-spec i would assume.

but it's quite weird that all the GT3's seem to be delayed and delayed and delayed. i wonder WHEN they are going to build additional RS models when even already ordered GT3's slip to july, the ultimatively latest possible production date.

Re: I need your help (for advice)

my dealer has 2 GT3's in stock , one "speed yellow", and the other one artic silver Club Sport config.
Do you know, guys, what the differencies are between the normal GT3 and the Club Sport ?
    thanks

Re: I need your help (for advice)

this is from the porsche website:

    Quote:
Key features include a bolt - in rollover bar which can be easily upgraded to a full racing roll cage for circuit use. All necessary components are included with the Clubsport package. The bucket seats are finished in flame - retardant fabric. Other on - board features include the preparation for a battery master switch, a red six - point racing harness for the driver's side and a fire extinguisher with mounting bracket.

    couldn't have said it better

    Hey Fanch,

How many do you think you'll have to buy before you get one for nothing?

Do not settle for minichamps, jecey...

    get a real GT3 ... or GT3 RS.... whatever!

    fritz

Re: I need your help (for advice)

jecey, the GT3 CS (Club Sport) does not have a single mass flywheel, only the GT3 RS does have one.
So I don't see any problem to go for the dealer car, if you badly want it.

Regarding the GT3 RS: I know a lot of people think that the GT3 RS is just a supped up GT3 with white color and some stickers. I can assure you that this is definetely wrong.
The GT3 RS is really worth it's money but apparently some people cancelled their orders and went for a regular GT3 instead. Again: big mistake, not only because the GT3 RS is a different kind of beast but also because it'll keep it's value much better than the GT3 due to the limited production numbers.
I'd always prefer the GT3 RS over the GT3 but it is your decision. If you really can get a GT3 RS, get it.

Re: I need your help (for advice)

RC: Here in the US at least one dealer is reporting that there will be a GT3 for the '05 model year. I'm assuming that will be a continuation of the '04 996 GT3 rather than a 997 based model but I didn't get the report directly so I don't know for sure. Have you heard anything on the subject?

Re: I need your help (for advice)

To follow up my post where it was rumored US dealers had been told the GT3 would be available for model year '05 - false alarm. No supporting info from PCNA could be found.
