    My bad....

I drive my 997 to work most days. I commute against traffic, so it's busy, but fast. But you know how it is- every other guy on the road wants to race, or pass you when your driving this car, even if they have a Yugo. I know the 3 likely places the cop sits each morning. So, as I tool along at 65, knowing he's likely to be just ahead, Joe big-wheels-pickup roars around me. I throttle up a little, he guns his beast and pretty soon we're hitting 85, side by side . I sit back, throttle down, wave goodbye , and watch as the flashing lights fall in behind him. Done this twice, and feel the need to confess my sin.

I also like to "mess" with people

    Re: My bad....

I've notice that everybody try to blow by me on the interstate. I've even had some young buck in a Cobra Mustang( sound like it is supercharge) Rev his engine coming from the other way. Like I'm going to fight traffic and turn around to race him in bumper to bumper traffic... When I had my M3 they didn't have a clue.

    Re: My bad....

I call Folsomdoc's "Joe Big-wheels Pickup" guy (or gal) my "rabbit"... I get them worked up (sometimes just by being on the road! <g>), get them to charge past me, then "honk" when I pass them on the side of the road when they are stopped by the constable...

This is another good reason for the remote display on the V1; it keeps them from seeing the alert and (temporarily) gives them the rush of having "blown by a 911".

God, people are such idiots in the US. I can't believe it sometimes. I'm embarassed for my country!

It's fun, though. Folsomdoc, I was thinking about confessing this at church, but this is a better venue for mere venial sins. Thanks for the thread start!

    Re: My bad....

The U.S. does not have an exclusive franchise on "idiots driving...."

    Re: My bad....

I must confess. I let some yo-yo in a small mercedes ride my tail long enough to pass by a waiting Newport Beach motorcycle cop which I spotted from a long distance. Once we passed the cop, he decided of course to back off my tail. By then it was too late...

It helps to know your roads and where the cops like to hide.

    Re: My bad....

Not nice. Usually, what comes round, goes round.

When my V1 goes off and it's obvious there's a cop or if I see him I almost always tap my brakes for drivers behind. I've even slowed people down with a wave out my window. If going the other direction will sometimes flash my lights. Before I had a detector people doing this for me have saved my arse, just returning the favor. Mean people (usually they're just unhappy w/ themselves) suck, that sorta thing. But you're forgiven son.

    Re: My bad....

Awww C'mon now. Why take the adversarial role? These guys are car guys just like us. Just trying to enjoy the drive and make it fun.

Maybe the guy in teh pickup right behind you has an old 911 at home... .

Of course some drivers are truely pr*cks, but the majority aren't BUT you can *interpret* their behavior that way if you're not careful.

    Re: My bad....

There's a difference between a group of cars driving at-speed with safe and appropriate spacing, just making good time.....

And a bozo in a stone-plug trying to pick a race that is stupidly conceived on multiple levels.

I have no ethical problem teaching idiots painful lessons on the road.

If you're tailing behind me politely and unobtrusively I'll give you a sign if I suspect the law ahead...

If you're picking a race with me in an '89 Caprice, flying along at 90mph oblivious to your under-inflated tires, I'll set you up for the kill just for sport...

That's not mean, that's justice. That's the food chain folks.

I use this technique when driving from Orange County to SF on highway 5. Once made it in less than 5 hours!

Such bozos deserve the treatment you are giving them. The only question is: will they learn their lesson from getting the ticket?
