    Re: Exclusive 612 Pictures

I don't llike 22 in wheels on sport cars like rapper's cars. Agreed.
But I still think that the wheels look small compared to the 612 in general. I think a lot of costumers will go for the 19in. True, comfort suffers from it but the aesthetic payback is worth it, IMO of course.
It's like when you see the 17in wheels on the Cayenne, doesn't quite fit does it? Looks great with the 20 in though.
In one or two model years max, the 612 will be equipped as standard with the GPS TFT screen. Just been confirmed by my contact at Ferrari France. The reason for the 10 Euros Becker unit is that they have a big stock and they need to get rid of it, unbelievable but true, according to my contact of course.
Also, he told me not the repeat but sod it! Factory will completely stop costumers visits from this summer onwards to start pre productions new Modenas. Not a scoop but it confirms the rumors.

    touché, 1:0!

you are probably right, the panel under the becker is just about the same DIN size, so the TFT is just a matter of time (or a tick in the option box). my first guess was that the nav system is to be integrated into this cockpit screen left to the rev counter.

it's just my personal taste. some years ago a car for me couldn't have enough e-kit included. e.g. i loved the (old) BMW eight or seven series with TFT and more lights in the cockpit like the christmas tree in front of the US ambassy. but it somehow changed, i know prefer reduced interiors with -- if any -- popup TFT's. audi did a good job with the A8 IMO. and i just love the nearly ascetic appearence of my GT3 RS' cockpit. but i'm zoning out... back to the topic...

yes. RC's latest info seems to be right.

    Re: Exclusive 612 Pictures

Regarding the size of the wheels. Lets remember, the size of the wheels doesnt nesscearly equate to performance. After all, F1 rims are only 13 inches. (yes, i know this is to "soften up" the ride marginally as a result of the incredibly firm suspension)

    Re: Exclusive 612 Pictures

F1 rims are thirteen inches in diamater becuase the rules say they have to be.

From the FIA rule book: 12.4.4 Wheel bead diameter must be between 328 and 332 mm. 13 inches is 330 mm

    You're absolutely right.

    Re: Exclusive 612 Pictures

Its just another example of how F1's claim to be the 'ultimate'
form of motorsport is rather dubious. I wonder if people realize just how restrictive the F1 rules are these days compared to the 60's, 70's and 80's?

    Re: Exclusive 612 Pictures

IMO F1's rules are primarily to make the sport competitive, and to force evolution of technology

    Re: Exclusive 612 Pictures

Do you consider F1 to be 'better' today then back in the 80's, early '90's?

    Re: Exclusive 612 Pictures

I've been watching F1 for many, many years now, and there are a gew things id like to change.

Firstly, I think that the primary unequalizer in F1 right now are the tires. Michelin is so far ahead of Bridestone, that the only comptitive team left with Bridgestones is Ferrari, and thats only because of their contract promissing several seasons using their tires.

Secondly, I would eliminate the grooves on tires, allowing for higher cornering speeds, and improving lap times, although this may be hazardous when coupled with rain.

Thirdly, as a saftey measure, I would allow more than one type of wet tire during race weekends.

Fourthly, in order to keep tire design competitive, I would have the tire manufactures show eachother their tire compounds at the end of every race season. This would force them to advance, quickly and competitively in order to mantain an advantage.

Fifthly (perhaps) I would have the companies do the same with engines, yet again forcing change and evolution. (not sure about this one).

What do all of you think about these, am I a genius, or should I have ridden the short bus to school?

    Re: Exclusive 612 Pictures

allmost forgot, I would make the points different, putting ten for 1st and six for 2nd (as opposed to 8), in order to make winning much more important.

    Re: Exclusive 612 Pictures

does anyone have pictures of this car with the 19" wheels? I am curious to see them.

    Re: Exclusive 612 Pictures

This is probably not the right forum to start up a big discussion
about all the things that are wroing with F1 these days. Still very interesting but...

    Re: Exclusive 612 Pictures

I just checked the brochure, the standard wheels are 18 front and 19 rear.
Through Carrozeria Scaglietti (Spelling?) you can get 19 front and 20 rear!

    Re: Exclusive 612 Pictures

Ok, then does anyone have any pictures with the 19"/20" setup?
