    Sports tail pipes for Cayenne S

    We ordered a Cayenne S two weeks ago and in the options list we had included the TEquipment sports tail pipes. The order was ok until Friday that we got a phone call from our dealer saying that everything was ok with our order except from the tail pipes. He said that there was some kind of problem and that they could not include them. The car is supposed to be built end of April/beginning of May and we will be taking the tourist delivery option (ie picking it up from the factory). Does any one know why there is this problem with the sports tail pipes and what I should since I really wanted that option and if I add them later I will be paying more than twice the factory price... Thank you all in advance!

    It could be that the Sports Pipes need the Turbo rear skirt. Others have changed that after delivery, $199.00. But I have not heard of anyone getting them fitted at the factory.

    The sport tail pipes are an option right from the factory in Europe when you order a car at a german, UK, italian, etc. dealer. My dealer wanted me to order them but I like the original pipes on the Turbo much more. He mentioned that installing them as a retrofit is much more costly, so I understand very well why N1KOY wants to have them from the factory on his new car.

    To N11KOY: if your dealer is nice, he offers you a retrofit at factory price. Talk to him, maybe he agrees.
    It is possible that there is a parts shortage regarding the pipes and Porsche doesn't want to confirm them as long as the supplies aren't available again. But this is only speculation.

    And a last word: I don't think the twin pipes look good, I hope you already saw the in reality. They look similar to the 996 twin pipes, not very Porsche-like.

    As a matter of fact I have seen them in real life and I feel that they look quite good, especially on an S.

    I spoke to my dealer in Athens, Greece, today and he said that the factory has not yet answered on why it has declined this option, but he thinks that the reason is that a lot of people have requested this option and the factory is short of supply... Anyway he will try to push them until the car is build because it will be very costly as an aftermarket extra...

    I don't have any other pics of this specific car... It was on sale at a Porsche Zentrum in Germany a few weeks ago but now it must be sold since I cannot find it...

    I d rather go for OEMs... U keep the warranty and you know where to go when you have problems!

    They almost look the same...like a cheap tuner job.
    Would Ferrari use such pipes on their cars? Would Porsche have used such pipes on their cars before Tequipment found out that they hit a certain taste with these pipes?

    It was tough enough for me to see these pipes on the 996 Turbo a while ago, then on the C4 S and the regular 996. And now the Cayenne...ouch.
