Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

I have the "regular" 997 Turbo watch. It's the same as the one in the pic but the dial is black. It also came with the 997 Turbo miniature car. Mine is # 361.

Very sporty and nice. It gives my basic 997 a sort of inspiration...

Maybe you are too old? Just kidding.
Yes, the watch is very "sporty", indeed. Like I said, a really interesting mixture between Swatch and Breitling and I'm really not exaggerating. Definetely a nice watch for having something special and showing some sort of connection to the 911 Turbo but of course this is no Rolex. I plan to wear this watch when I join special events with my Turbo. My "real" watch is the watch I own for six years now and I've sworn I'll never gonna sell it or buy something else: the Rolex Daytona (gold with brown crocodile leather). I'm not a watch collector, I stick with one watch almost for eternity. Got my first good watch at age 18 as a gift, a Chopard St. Moritz. I still have this watch and it was replaced by the Daytona. You see...I'm not into exchanging watches but I love them.

Daytona is nice watch but I think that is too small, I have AP Royal Oak Offshore rose gold and the size is perfect (in Italy I saw ladies wearing Daytona's )

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

personally i don't like this watch too much...

but wait... turbo watch? looks more "inspired by ferrari dials" to me

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

It doesn't do it for me...Like many said - it look cheap and there is too much plastic for my taste.

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

I'm slightly disappointed that it is Swiss made. They should of course have gotten a german watchmaker to make it for them, like Lange, Glashütte or Nomos. But then it wouldn't have been cheap...

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

Porsche Design bought Eterna about 10 years ago. As Porsche Design is now again part of Porsche AG, it seems reasonable that Eterna builds all their watches. And not bad ones. So they are all Swiss made by PD/Eterna. I always liked the Dashboard series by PD. (However, I went with a J12 instead.) The 997 Turbo watch is just nice in addition to the 997 turbo cloth collections as it contains the same effect color (was it called acid green? or acid yellow? whatever).

Regarding limited edition, I had the understanding that all their Porsche Selection watches are "limited". At least that is what they wrote last year about the 911 watch and the Cayman watch. And indeed the red Cayman watch was indicated as sold out quite fast. However, all the others are still available. I assume that 500 pieces is not too limited for the market. The whole Carrera Gt carbotech gimmicks were limited to 1500 pieces as the car. However, most of these items are still available. That probably indicates that the market for these toys is in the range of the 500 pieces.

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

The 500 pieces limited edition has the light green colour in three zones of the watch, the same green used for the new 997 Turbo style collection. The non-limited edition has a black/grey dial only and the limited edition lettering, incl. the serial number, is missing from the back. Both, the regular and limited edition watches have a 997 Turbo model car in the box.
Finally I was able to get more information about that stuff. Poohhh.

I got the 996 Turbo "911 Turbo" watch as a gift in 2000. It definetely would please the audience more but it was very expensive and it almost rips your arm off (pretty heavy).
BTW: this one would be for sale if somebody is interested. Not cheap though, I'll post a picture upon request.

Is there also a version with red revv counter?

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

C'mon guys...when I look at the Ferrari "merchandise" available (the "licensed" one), I sometimes get a good laugh too. Especially this new stuff with the Ferrari horse which actually looks more like a donkey to me. Don't know who is responsible for this design but it looks a little bit too funny for a Ferrari (not talking about the REAL Ferrari horse but about that comic book style horse used on some newer merchandise).

Come on RC, take it easy! It's all good fun.

    But concerning the Turbo watch:
I don't like it because it looks cheap, way too cheap for a product that is associated with such a high tech car (remember: masterpiece ) like the 997tt.
If they had done it properly, it should have looked something like this:

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

well i wouldn't get a ferrari watch either.

but i ordered this ferrari barbie doll for my daughter's birthday next week since she doesn't like my F430 ("no rear seats", "too loud")...

    maybe it'll help

RC, just a clarification: the regular watch does have the serial number in the back. As mentioned, mine is SERIAL NO: 000361 The only difference is the "LIMITED EDITION" mark.

Holy cow KresoF1, do you have IWC's 659 parts masterpiece in your collection

Although I am a little disappointed that it isn't the Il Destriero Scafusia

Only joking, that must be one h*ll of a collection you've got there

You should get a Lange, if you don't already have one...

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

Temm, I have only five watches in my collection...
You said Lange? That's an interesting idea...

Well, I'd say the world "only" has a very relative meaning in this context...

$215k, can't be that many around...

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

Honestly, I did not pay it that much!
My business partner bought it and after only one month he decided to sell it... I negotiate a bit and bought it.
My wife was not very happy...

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

    ...nice

Hey KresoF1, I'll trade you one of my houses in the midwest for your IWC GC.

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

Hmm... If you have extra house on Adriatic coast of Croatia(Island of Hvar or Dubrovnik) we can work something out!
Oh, Santorini Island in Greece is also interesting location(specially Caldera view location!)...

$215k doesn't get you much in Hvar or Dubrovnik these days...

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

True! But, any way these are very nice locations...
