Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

Limited Edition...only 500 pieces out there.
The non-limited edition will look close, both available sometimes this summer or early fall.

This should be one of the first and only in the hands of a non-Porsche employee, maybe a few others out there on ebay or so, don't know.

Yep, owning it and liking it. It looks sporty, has a pretty good quality, titanium...watch doesn't weight much.

    Have a glimpse.

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

    The rear with serial number.

In the box together with the watch was also a nice 997 Turbo model car.

So, is there a person in the vicinity of Munich that is thinking about selling it?

    Looks great!

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

You'll be surprised: we were actually thinking about auctioning it to raise some money for Rennteam.com but I really like this watch. It looks like some sort of mixture between a swatch and a Breitling, weird combo...me likey.

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

Forgot to say: this watch is an original Porsche watch, no some sort of aftermarket cheapo, whatever.

Yes, it's beautiful! I'd proudly wear it in place of a Breitling (although that would raise some eyebrows ).

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

Does it via infrared provide a Sport Chronometer link? (Can you get extra boost from the turbo when you press one of the buttons?)

    Regardless,--very nice!

It actually works via Bluetooth: press the upper button and you get an extra 10 seconds of overboost over the FULL rev range. Press the lower button and Tip transforms into PDK like a miracle. Why do you think did I get this watch?!

With that middle thing, you can adjust boost pressure up to 1.6 bar.

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

Nice gadget, but personally don't like it.

Talking about gadgets: would somebody be interested in a "gadget corner" on Rennteam.com? Presenting the latest in gadget gear/video players/music players/phones/etc.? I'm not talking about the regular stuff but only top of the line stuff?!

Yeah, why not! I think it's a good idea!

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

Gadget corner would be great! another idea would be a driving technique corner, i sure would strongly benefit from that, and i guess i'm not the only one.

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

Hmmm, I have this watch since 3 weeks. It is available at most Porsche centers since mid of April (at least in Germany).

I am not so sure about the quality. It is basically the same watch as the "911" and Cayman watches in the Porsche selection catalogue of the past season. Feels somewhat cheap. Just slightly more expensive. At least it matches the new Turbo clothes collection.

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

My other hobby is High-end audio and video... My system cost as much as 997 Turbo! But, this stuff IMO do not belong on rennteam.com.

True. We COULD have a gadget section relating directly to cars, though. Aftermarket HUD's, audio systems and the like.

Are you sure you don't work for Porsche?
Deliveries of the special edition didn't start yet.
Maybe the dealer sold you "his" watch?!

Could you post a picture of the rear part? Only if it isn't too much trouble.

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

    Hey RC... nice watch!

Did you have to pay extra for the band?
Aren't you afraid they will bring out the "S" version of your watch soon?

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

Nice but doesn't do it for me. Looks too sporty, looks too plastic. Maybe I am getting too old

    Yes!! that would be great!

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

    I second that.

I am in absolute shock at the moment...
This must be the first time that SciFrog has made a negative remark toward a Porsche product. And here I had always thought you worked for them.

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

    Not true:

I hate the tip on the CTT...
The Cayman pricing is ridiculous (vs Boxster S)...
Having SC an option on the 997TT is stupid, should be standard...
The whole 997/987 (including 997 turbo) line is 30hp under powered...

Maybe you are too old? Just kidding.
Yes, the watch is very "sporty", indeed. Like I said, a really interesting mixture between Swatch and Breitling and I'm really not exaggerating. Definetely a nice watch for having something special and showing some sort of connection to the 911 Turbo but of course this is no Rolex. I plan to wear this watch when I join special events with my Turbo. My "real" watch is the watch I own for six years now and I've sworn I'll never gonna sell it or buy something else: the Rolex Daytona (gold with brown crocodile leather). I'm not a watch collector, I stick with one watch almost for eternity. Got my first good watch at age 18 as a gift, a Chopard St. Moritz. I still have this watch and it was replaced by the Daytona. You see...I'm not into exchanging watches but I love them.

    Make that 230hp.

Good choice RC... of the Rolex watches... the Gold Daytona w/Croc strap is definitely one of the sportier. (one of my favorite designs in the Rolex line-up)

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

I still prefer my Casio watch.

    Sure. Et voila...

I think the only special in the limited edition is the box with the 997TT miniature. The version I saw in the OPC in March/April did not have that extra.

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

I'm not really a watch collector either but yet I have a bunch of watches. My everyday watch is a Polar heart monitor that I always use when working out. I'm hoping to replace that with the Porsche Turbo watch. I ordered the limited edition so hopefully I manage to get one. Any idea when it's going to come out?

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

I saw the watch before... maybe in the porsche newsletter?
I wish porsche would leave the idea that a watch made by a car manufacturer should have a strap that resembles a tyre... A while ago they had the superexclusive CGT watch...Price about 18000 euro's... and still a cheap rubber strap... I would love to have a porsche design watch, but these watches are way to cheapish looking in my taste...

Re: Something very special - 911 Turbo Watch

You got your dealer's watch. Nothing bad about it.
The price tag of the normal and limited versions is the same 556 (?) Euro, I don't remember but of course the limited watch also has the limited lettering on the back and there is a minor difference of the "face" too.

Pictures are available in Porsche newsletters and I think I also saw one in the recent Christophorus issue.
