986 Boxster on 18" 993 / 911 turbo twist wheels??

I'm wondering if it's possibile to install these rims & tires on a 986 Boxster without having any rubbing issues or having them stick out past the edges of the rear fenders? I'm presuming I wouldn't need spacers? The car presently has factory suspension. My factory rear wheels have the same offset (40), so am I correct in assuming they will stick out 3" further? (I have 7" rims in the back now, these would be 10"). It would seem that if this is correct, and they would actually stick out 3" further, they would be out past the sides of the car; however, I found a picture (below) of someone who supposedly has these same wheels installed on a Boxster (only difference is they aren't chrome) and they don't seem to stick out abnormally..

Here's the info on the rims & tires I'd like to purchase:
Size: Fronts 8J X 18 ET52 (225/40 ZR18) Part no: 993.362.138.00
Rears 10J X 18 ET40 (285/30 ZR18) Part no: 993.362.140.00

Any insight (or pictures if anyone has done something similar) would be awesome!!

The ET or offset number is the difference betwene the centre line of the wheel rim (and tyre) and the mounting face. Zero offset means the centreline of the wheel is in line with the hub. the bigger the ET value the further the wheel is pushed into the wheelarch.

ET values on different width wheels will still sit in exactly the same place with regards centre line.

So a 265 tyre on a 9" or 10" wide rim of the same ET value will sit in the same place on the vehicle, but the sidewall of the tyre will sit fractionally different on the rim itself (as the tyre is stretched across a wider width rim)

A ET52 wheel will physically be 12mm further into the car than a ET40, a ET35 will be 5mm further outboard (same as fittign 5mm spacers to a ET40 wheel).

From the info provided the wheels will fit as now, but the wider rear tyre MAY be an issue. I know of 285 fitments but they might be on fractionally different offsets. Personally i think you'd be OK, but do a trial fit on the rear first.

You should be OK as long as you use 265s. With 285s, they will stick out slightly. Of course, if you use 265s, then why bother? Get 9" rear wheels will be a better fit with less clearance issues and lighter weight.
