    some aftermarket brakes for F430

Does anybody have some idea about some 6 pot caliper and 380 mm discs for F430 (not carbon)?? I have normal brakes on my F 430 but I am not very pleased with it.

Re: some aftermarket brakes for F430

Check out Brembo GTR 8-piston units...

But is it "plug and play"??

Re: some aftermarket brakes for F430

Novitec does a brake kit with 380 mm discs and 8 pot calipers front and 380 mm/4 pot calipers rear. They have both, a carbo-ceramic and a steel version in this dimension. Price of the latter should be around 10k.

really?! I can't brakes being better than PCCB, because at the moment when I stomp on them it feels like my eyes are going to come out my sockets

Re: some aftermarket brakes for F430

    Aldo,
Brembo has special front brake kit just for F430...

Brembo Gran Turismo Ferrari F430 Front Brake Kit(Part Number 1M1.9008A) it includes:
    380/32mm Front Discs
    6 Piston Calipers
    Pads
    Brake Hose
    Clearance guide

My friend from Italy install them on his F430 instead of standard front brakes-they are good.

    Sure about this???

Re: some aftermarket brakes for F430

Supposedly they are just as light as PCCB, and obviously cost less.

Re: some aftermarket brakes for F430

I don't know how we could settle this debate unless we got two identical cars, one with pccb and one with the brembo gtr. They would have to be tested with the same tires, track conditions, temp, etc. I think the limiting factor on most ceramic brakes are the tires so I don't see any advantage to these brakes except possibly the cost.

I see, you meant SGL Carbon. So I guess CCM (Brembo) ist still better than Brembo gtr.

    and what about rear brakes??

Re: some aftermarket brakes for F430

different brake for different use. the GTR kit is not a good choice for 430.

Brembo GTR kit is great for track use while PCCB is great for the road/street use. the GTR kit is designed mainly for racing not for street use. it is extremely noisy & the brake is too good for street tire can handle. it's hard to imagine if there's any brake system bites harder than PCCB but the GTR kit certainly be the one. here's some weight info between the GTR kit & PCCB:

    F PCCB rotor: 12.2 lbs
F PCCB caliper (with pads): 12.6 lbs
    Total: 24.8 lbs

    R PCCB rotor: 12.2 lbs
R PCCB caliper (WP): 8.2 lbs
    Total: 20.4 lbs

    F GTR rotor: 19.8 lbs
    F GTR caliper (WP): 7.2 lbs (W/OP): 5.2 lbs
    Total: 27.0 lbs

    R GTR rotor: 13.4 lbs
    R GTR caliper (WP): 7.0 lbs (W/OP): 5.2 lbs
    Total: 20.4 lbs

    some pics:
notice the quick release design of the pad for racing (that causes pads to move around therefore it's noisy. also see the pad design for the minimum heat transfer)

Re: some aftermarket brakes for F430

Rears will stay standard. Brembo Gran Turismo kit is only for front brakes, they do not offer upgrade for rears.
According to Brembo guys fronts are far more important.
My friend is next week in Zagreb so, you can see the car and the brakes in person... Just PM me.

Re: some aftermarket brakes for F430

    ALDO,
wait for the new Brembo 6 piston kit if u decide to change the brake. forget about the Novitec 380mm 8 piston kit since imo it's all for look. although the 8 piston GT kit ''looks'' big but it doesn't mean it performs better. the specific piston design doesn't good pedal feedback also it's the heaviest of them all. i've tried all the Brembo options for many cars i can tell u my favorite Brembo kit for the street is the 380mm 4 piston kit before the 6 piston kit comes out. i know it might sounds confusing so if u want any detail u can always PM or email me.

here's some options & different set up u can go (don't worry about color & writing. they were all custom kit/design):

Brembo 2 piece floating rotors (much lighter than stock rotors. direct replacement of the factory piece)

    380mm 4 piston (F50) kit

    380mm 8 piston kit

for SUV new 380mm 8 piston HUGE kit

new 380mm 6 piston light weight kit

    380mm GTR racing kit

didn't post any rear kit since it's pretty simple to match what u have for the front. the front is the key.

Re: some aftermarket brakes for F430

Thanks, I like this 6 pot 380 mm kit

No I don't think that is what he is saying, I think he means the gtr kit is superior to both ccm and pccb for track use but the stock kit are better suited for the street. I also doubt that CCM is as good as PCCB, but unless there is a direct and variable-free test, we cannot tell.

Re: some aftermarket brakes for F430

Why is in your opinion PCCBs better brakes then CCMs?? Because CCMs are Ferrari's and PCCBs are Porsche's??!! If that is your answer I will hold my opinion about that for myself...
BTW, both Brembo Ceramics(CCM) and SGL(PCCB) are owned(partially) by Diamler Chrysler.

Re: some aftermarket brakes for F430

No, I make this assumption based on the fact that Porsche is a much larger volume car dealer and therefore has manufactured and developed these brakes for a variety of cars in much greater numbers than ferrari. Coupled with this extensive developement is the fact that Porsche must have a higher reasearch and developement budget due to the fact that they sell so many cars and are the most profitable carmaker in the business. After producing or purchasing and testing so many pccbs for a wide range of cars, Porsche has had more time/experience to iron out the bugs and improve the system. These may be assumptions, but they are logical ones and until a comparison test is done, I don't know how we'll prove it one way or the other.

Re: some aftermarket brakes for F430

CCM is better than PCCB, no doubts
If you go to track, The Choice is Brembo GTR, designed for track use

Do you care to justify or prove that claim, because I definitely have my doubts. In the Autocar test of the 599, they remarked they did not like the brake feel yet praised the ceramics on the turbo. Hmmmm....

Re: some aftermarket brakes for F430

Let me get you few REAL data from Ferrari F430F1 Supertest in German Sport Auto magazine...
    Brakes of course!
    F430 was with optional CCMs
    Size: fronts 350mm(6caliper), rear 350mm(4caliper)
Same size as new 997 Turbo's or GT3/GT3RS optional PCCBs...

    Test data:
    100km/h-0(cold brakes) 36.0m(10.7m/s)
    100km/h-0(warm brakes) 33.6m(11.5m/s)
    200km/h-0(warm brakes)138.0m(11.2m/s)

According to Sport Auto test chief Horst von Saurma F430 CCMs have excellent power and nice constant pedal feel...
So, these CCMs are really bad as you said and stupid/childish Autocar mag!

    A little correction:

CCM are 380mm at the front.
997tt/GT3/RS has 350mm steel brakes all around, PCCB is also 380/6 front and 350/4 rear.

Well, I'd say Porsche's first generation of the PCCB had lots of quality problems, so the early introducion of the PCCB and the great numbers of production doesn't count for me.

Brembo has waited until they had a properly developed product before they would offer it to their customers. And when they finally did (in the Enzo and the 360CS), the CCM was outstanding from the start. These brakes really are a blast, so no need for me to think the PCCB is any better than the CCM.
