Have you ever driven a Cayenne Turbo Powerkit with an almost empty fuel tank? A friend's BMW M3 E46 with SMG can't follow me (by a car length behind from 20 to aprox. 130 mph).

Yeah, we know, only a Veyron could come close...

Well, from 120 to 180 kph, the F430 was at the same level and I had the kids, my wife and luggage with me.
Don't understimate the magic of excessive torque and power, especially in certain speed ranges.

A car magazine has tested the Cayenne Turbo Powerkit at 19.3 seconds from 0-200 kph. Now take away the throttle lag from standstill and you get more of a 18.3 seconds time. Again: from STANDSTILL with a fully fueled car. The fuel tank has 100 litres.

Now take away around 70 litres and forget about acceleration from standstill, you come close to the performance of 0-200 kph in around 17 seconds compared to other cars in the same range. I know it is difficult to understand what I want to say but a M3 is definetely no "threat" for the Cayenne Turbo Powerkit, especially not from 30 to 180 kph. On my "kill list" is also a Corvette C06 (new model, manual), same situation with almost empty fuel tank in the 80 to 210 kph speed range.

I saw enough frustrated sportscar driver faces while driving my Cayenne Turbo Powerkit, so please don't consider my claims to be crazy because I really know what I'm talking about. As soon as the Cayenne Turbo Powerkit is moving and with an almost empty fuel tank, it is an impressive performer.

To zzboba: I can prove it to you anytime when you finally come visit me.

Regarding the M3 driver: I'd say he can drive pretty well but he is no Walter Röhrl of course.

Yeah, we understand. And take away the road and the car will accelerate from nil to 200 kph in less than 5 seconds (in free fall).

Re: 997 Turbo test in german Auto Zeitung!

Sorry RC, I respect you and I will try to trust you but, only if other drivers(CR and others) did not push hard you were in position to kill them...
My own brother has same Cayenne Turbo(kit 500hp) as you did and few days ago he was driving along side with me on autobahn(in Croatia) from 100km/h till around 230km/h. End result? I overtake him by several(read more than two) car leghts till I reach 230km/h. I was in my F430F1 Spider...
My brother is very good driver and he usually drives a lot faster daily then I do(well, he is 4years younger but, still 30years old)! Other cars that prove to be faster then 500hp(MY2006) Cayenne are SL600, SL55AMG, 997 Carrera S(X51) and M3(it was me!). Yesterday he told me that he get embaressed by Chrysler 300C SRT8 from one traffic light to another... By our own measurements Cayenne with 500hp needs 18.7s from 0-200km/h in my brother hands and 18.6s in my hands so, faster then Vette C6 or F430F1(specially)? Come on! These guys let you win...

Re: 997 Turbo test in german Auto Zeitung!

Well...maybe my Cayenne Turbo is just very powerful? Nope, didn't do any tuning but latest gearbox/engine software. The boost gauge needle is almost fully at the right end of the gauge, Vmax is 287 (speedo reading, GPS measured recently with 272).

I am very surprised too, this truck is very very fast, just not from standstill. Oh, if it is important: this car was ordered as a press car.

I think I have a good solution to check out how powerful (or not) my Cayenne Turbo Powerkit is: I'll ask my dealer to put a salesperson in a Carrera (not S) and we'll do a short drive on the Autobahn. The 997 Carrera does 0-200 kph in aprox. 17-18 seconds, so we know immediately what is going on. Results (and maybe pictures) over here on Rennteam. Will be fun.

Re: 997 Turbo test in german Auto Zeitung!

The new ML63 hit 0-1000m at 23sec (factoclaims) which is faster than a Cayenne Turbo imo.

I ve seen a video cayenne turbo vs 996 Carrera4 (tiptronic) till 160kmh they are head to head
