    i havent, but i have seen and also still in posession of CAYMAN S MY 2007 (and there is no power hike, as was speculated by some)...

    i wrote a mail to PORSCHE in my Country though, stating, that i ordered a Cayman S and would be "very unsure of my decision" (read: pissed) if boxster would get 295 hp.

    i sent the mail throug the official "dialog with porsche" mail adress, and i got a reply saying that Mr. Egger, was going to get back to me asap, but he is on a businees trip.

    obviosly someone does read those mails, that get sent through the office@porsche.at

    i will let you know as soon as i know anything...

    An italian future owner said that his boxster s, will arrive on July instead of June because of the new engine MY07

    Actually I doubt this is the case. I called my dealer in HK and nothing is official. If this were to be true, Porsche AG would definitely issue a press release as this is quite an important piece of news. Alternatively, does anyone know anything about the rumoured PDK double clutch gearbox? Any update on that? I am sure by the time the 998 or 988 roll out, this must be the case as fiddly buttons on my tiptronic gearbox are really quite of old fashioned consiering that most cars now have shift pedals.

    2% price increase for a detuned 3.4 - now that sounds like real Porsche marketing
    And the best thing for Porsche is, they can offer another HP hike in two years without any additional development: they just will de-detune the engine

    I know someone who just signed for the new boxster S.
    It will have a 3.4 engine and will be delivered in July.
    However, he did not have the power ....295 or 285 HP ??

    If the 3.4 is the 295bhp Variocam plus engine it will be a worthwhile improvement. If it doesn't then it will be very disappointing and wouldn't think it would interest many existing 987S owners. For all it's undoubted brilliance the 987S is falling further behind the competition that wasn't there when the car was launched (BMW Z4M and Mercedes SLK 55 AMG) Further evidence that Porsche is sitting on its laurels.

    Unfortunately your contact may not have the full information then. I have seen documentation on this to be true (including the 2.7 power).

    WHY should Porsche do that ?????
    That makes NO SENCE at all !!!!!
    IMO, your source was (indeed) referring to the engine upgrade for the 2.7L Boxster and Cayman (NON S) engine.
    The 2.7L gets an "extra" 5 HP (varioacam plus) AND the 3.4L stays at 295 HP.
    The 3.4L (295) WILL be mounted in BOTH Cayman S AND Boxster S !!
    It would cost Porsche more to detune that engine (and to have "different" engines AGAIN) then using the same 295 HP engine for BOTH models !!
    Like Dreamcar said : Porsche is running BEHIND the competition ALLREADY !!
    Just my 2 cents

    i wasnt saying that bhp is all that matters, but it is a certain part of the driving experience....i doubt we would all have as much fun with our Porsches, as we have now, it the'd have 75 ps. or am i wrong?

    Just heard from my NC dealer. They told me that at the US Southeast regional meeting this week the 07 Boxster plans were discussed.

    He told me that it will have 295 HP with Vario-cam but will NOT be the 3.4 engine. Still 3.2 engine. (I'm just the messenger so if this sounds unlikely don't blame me!)

    That's very surprising ! Keeping the 3.2 does not have any production logic
    Well, let's wait for the official statement around the 19 June

    Last I heard (about a week ago), my dealer had heard nothing about a 295 HP Boxster. I agree it is all hearsay until an official announcement.
