indeed it is a real fear modern Porsches will feel far too distant and Polished compared to 997 and 996 GT's.

Great for the rematch , but we should swap cars, I ma dying at the moment to drive a pure car  Smiley

BTW : Not sure yet, but I might go to Dijon on the 17th of May .

I can imagine it will feel similar to my RS . You gain a layer of speed and efficiency , but loose a layer of rawness and purity , even with stick .  Not sure stick compensates that on it own ....

By May the RS will be sold unfortunately, I'm bringing it to PZ Zug by end of April. Wouldn't it be something for you on the side? I'm sure you would really enjoy it!

Indeed I doubt the stick would compensate enough, I think maybe a 911R would be a worthy successor as it is perhaps a bit more raw than 991 RS's and GT3, but these prices are obviously ridiculous.

No not at all, don't worry. wink It's been with me for 3 years, it's time for something different I guess? Can't keep the same car forever.

As said, I'm on the list for the 991.2 GT3 manual, but that's an April build and I do fear its lack of purity a bit...yes

What about a 997.2 GT3 RS? For me this is the ultimate GT3... raw, mechanical, motorsport derived, and looks great.

I guess the GT4 will be a bit too much for you, so won't mention it... indecision

That's high on my list indeed, but they're a bit overvalued and I struggle with the idea of paying over list for a car that'll be 90% similar.

But I agree, for me as well it is the ultimate GT3. Perhaps more so than a 4.0 as it is more rev hungry and durable. Smiley

    LP997:

whats the function of this "intake" hood?

Considering that the engine is in the back I would assume these are outlets rather than intakes.
What you often see with these kind of cars is that they provide an airflow that goes into the front bumper and out over the front hood. Purpose is often dual; improved cooling of the radiators that are located in the front, improved downforce (air that goes over the car rather than sideways or even under) and drag reduction (air that flows over the radiators and then is led through an intricate funnel system through the car is drag. Quickest way out is over the top, but normal cars have a luggage compartment there, so it is a no-go. For pure track cars it is an opportunity).

Does anyone think those NACA ducts on the front bonnet are for cooling some sort of hybrid system that adds electric power to the front axle?

I am sure I would enjoy it . Ideally without the back wing, a tiny bit more road clearance .... so it could be my DD Smiley

But more seriously, I find the prices at the moment too high . I am betting that as soon as some of the 991.2 GT3 manual hit the roads, prices on 997.1 and .2 will have dropped a bit .   I will consider one at that moment .

But send me the link anyway once it is up for sale Smiley

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

    Hello all!

I'm new, currently based in Singapore. I have been lurking in this forum since last Oct, after placing a deposit on the 991.2 GT3.

Just wanted to say I have thoroughly enjoyed the banter around here!

Could anyone assure me this is Carmine Red, and not Guards Red?
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4PB-BDOTe0

    Thanks in advance!

    Ken

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Welcome, Ken!  It's hard to tell if it's Carmine for sure, but that's my guess.  It's difficult to know for sure with these photos and films that can be digitally manipulated.

Here's a photo I took at the dealer of Carmine and Guards samples if it helps...IMG_0174.JPG

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Thanks Grant! This is much appreciated, the colour templates really show a marked difference between the 2 shades.....

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

On the video i believe it is guard red but looks like carmin red .

The same happened with the car at the geneva show . On the photos it looked like carmin red, but once you saw it in reality it was guard red .

Grant's post shows well the difference .
