Today I heard a rumor that Porsche may have pushed back the GT2 RS introduction because they decided to use a different engine. I just hope that this is not just the old rumor, just retold.
I just read this in another thread...... I really wish people would stay on topic, I've wasted so much time excitedly clicking on new 991GT2 posts only to see totally irrelevant stuff and then when I take a peak in the .2GT3 thread I find the little rumour nugget above from RC, seems even he can't stick to relevant thread posting, this forum is becoming very chaotic and random
Is that realistic? To change the engine, even the specs (like upgrading from 650 to 680hp) will need a very long time for development and testing The only chance we probably have is they got it right from the beginning
They have different variants in development, so this wouldn't really be a problem. Up to a certain point where they have to prepare for the series production.
Are you kidding? The emission tests etc. alone will make it impossible (!) to change the hp output at such a late stage I am afraid this is impossible - although we would all love it to be true...
Emissions tests? Trump's killing the EPA, everyone in the US will be Rollin' Coal this time next year

Back to topic: Car development isn't cheap and using different tech with different emissions for certain markets doesn't make sense at all and costs a lot of money. Meaning: No matter how laws get changed, car manufacturers will try to use the same tech for all (or most) markets. Why do you think car manufacturers were rooting for TTIP?!
