    LP997:

The R is more fun on road, the gearbox is a pleasure and the lightweight flywheel give a more response engine and "more" hard rev ;) The sound is different more sound in interior and a different exhaust note in exterior. This car feel more light than the RS in curve and mountain attack. I prefer the RS for track and the R for fun road ;) Porsche give a character to this car a real personality. This car is for driver like drive (seems like a 993 RS feeling)

I don't think Porsche needs mules for special edition turbos since they're arguably no different than standard turbos.

I just read this in another thread...... I really wish people would stay on topic, I've wasted so much time excitedly clicking on new 991GT2 posts only to see totally irrelevant stuff and then when I take a peak in the .2GT3 thread I find the little rumour nugget above from RC, seems even he can't stick to relevant thread posting, this forum is becoming very chaotic and random mail

Is that realistic? To change the engine, even the specs (like upgrading from 650 to 680hp) will need a very long time for development and testing Smiley The only chance we probably have is they got it right from the beginning Smiley

Re: 991 GT2 RS (2017) - Rumors, speculations and gossip Thread Closed

Completely agree with that. The engine issue has been lurking in the background right from the outset, with the current generation Turbo S engine maxed out, the new 992 Turbo tech not availabe yet or unsuitable for a track oriented high performance car, and lack of clarity on whether the GT3 N/A engine family is a suitable base engine for turbo charging.

Don't manufacturers usually have a number of power levels fully developed for an new engine and it is marketing which signs off the final spec ?

I was told this many years ago by one of the original chip tuners who explained the scenario above when he was tuning my then E55, he said the alternative (fully developed) tunes find their way onto the black market (via the various software engineers involved in the development) and can be purchased by people like him, he even showed me a name on the tuning file which was supposedly an AMG employee - probably all BS but feasible ?

Even so if it is 650-680hp then it must be a significantly different set up than the current Turbo S

Going off topic with E55, how much did you gain and does it worth?

HP is all marketing and long-term business planning. They could give you an 800 hp 911 if they wanted, but marketing won't let them because they need to go from 600 -> 800 in 20hp increments over the next 10 years.

They have different variants in development, so this wouldn't really be a problem. Up to a certain point where they have to prepare for the series production.

    Thin line. Lol.

Re: 991 GT2 RS (2017) - Rumors, speculations and gossip Thread Closed

For US market, Porsche can just claim 900 HP, no evidence or truth required

I think there should be a GT2 first, and the RS version to be the final ultimate PDK race version of that turbo beast.

Again...Porsche is testing different variants with different outputs and tech. Certification is no problem, they can do that close to the release date. The engine is the least of their problem. Smiley

Back to topic: Car development isn't cheap and using different tech with different emissions for certain markets doesn't make sense at all and costs a lot of money. Meaning: No matter how laws get changed, car manufacturers will try to use the same tech for all (or most) markets. Why do you think car manufacturers were rooting for TTIP?!

Why do you have to bash every Porsche model?

You pointed clearly as a sky that you do not like or fancy any of Porsche models or its design. For you 720S is a peak in sportscar in every possible aspect. We got it.

If you want to drove members here to Mclaren worship zone you will not be successful at all.

I respect your overwhelming enthusiasm towards Mclaren. Try to be little bit democratic here and allow members to love (and even rave) about Porsche GT models.
