    DCS suspension controller

The 2 GT3s and the GT4 at the track events all were runnng dcs and each quite skilled driver said it really improved suspension dynamics.

are any of you guys running this?

ive ordered a trial, it bolts in and is tuneable

Don't do it.  I heard Manthey Racing in Germany is working on an R&P.  Try them first...

PDK box does not have good ratios (not like GT3).  Clubsport uses regular 7 speed PDK  (top speed comes in 6th) with overdrive 7th locked out - ratios only slightly better than manual.

Did you try 1st gear for the really slow corners?

    Re: DCS suspension controller

Sounds like your complaint may have more to do with gear spacing than overall gearing, right?  Unfortunately, 1st and 2nd are both on main shaft which is very expensive to manufacture.  Lower R&P won't help that (except vehicle speed will be lower where 2nd has to pull from same rpm).  I'm not using my car on the road much (too many tickets and strict law enforcement around here lately).  So, I haven't found too much to complain about with the gearing on the track (closer spacing would be nicer though).  After warranty, I would consider Guard replacements for 3rd, 4th, and 5th if I wanted to max its performance (along with Guard LSD).

Maybe if budget was not important, a lower Manthey R&P with Guard 3rd - 5th would address all the gearing issues...

Porsche Asia MD has told me the pdk won't fit due to electrics.....a great idea thoughSmiley

you are pointing out r n p will lower everything but it won't fix the rev gap between 1st n 2nd?  If the r n p is low enough 2 nd might be low enough to use down to 30 kmh. Which would greatly improve canyon slamming.

Ideally though  2 nd must be lowered then which is unlikely since even Porsche may not see the volume to justify.

    your estimate on man they r n p and guard 3,4,5?  $25 k usd?

Grant, you need to work on your speeding skills! we should start a school of speeding hereSmiley

No, should be less expensive than that.  I think ~$15k installed.

    Re: DCS suspension controller

I took the monster out for a short breathe this evening. 12C in the air, Cup2 tires warmed up, 2.3 bar, and full throttle in 1st gear. The rear tires lit up like a top fuel dragster when then engine hit 4500 RPM indecision

This car does not need fancy tuning. It goes pretty well as is indecision

Bummer.  I guess the only option is to change gears 3 through 6 which does nothing for 2nd...

Shocking - blue lines is such a child burning rubberSmiley you're right, as Sun said its a truly great design SmileySmiley, but the 1-2 gap and the leggy 2,3,4 are pretty defective for those of us on B roads and without an autobahn. What's wrong with seeking perfection?

are you running 2.3 all 4?  At the track we were running 33 psi all 4 hot, but I've been using the factory 29/33 on the road

I am also running 2.3 bar rear and 2.0 bar front (warm). On road and track.

Monika had it installed on her standard 2009 Cayman S - we where hoping for a harder ride but didn't get that.

But to be fair we have only done auto cross - We will swap in the DCS when we are at Nürburgring to see if we feel any improvement.

Dear Kobalt please expatiate on your DSC experience, it sounds like it didnt work for Monika?  The GT4 pilot i met said the effect on his car was dramatic and he decided to buy after 3/4 lap.  I am still waiting for mine to arrive.

    Re: DCS suspension controller

    Watt,

We ordered the box just before the last autocross of the season, we both drove Monikas Cayman and we thought both that it was too soft with DSC. But unfortunately we didn't have time to do any proper track driving because of the winter.

I think you should consider this as initial observation - we will know more in a month.
Until then looking forward to your report!

What car will you install it in?

    Re: DCS suspension controller

There's a longer discussion on the GT4 board there.  I suggested that DSC might be able to make a custom tune for stiffer springs on the GT4 (some hardcore track guys swapping springs but leaving shocks alone, which is not optimal IMO).

    Re: DCS suspension controller

    So, first report on dsc

Even Sun with his paws could install the thing.  Sun's unit has all of Leong's learning programmed in and he is a superb driver.

feels "bouncier" in normal pasm in a straight line, car almost feels higher from ground .... but much firmer less roll and more planted in corners, quite clear the effect.  Carrying more speed on b roads after 20 minutes test.

in pasm with the shock lit up very very firm but better on b roads  than porsche original, although need more evaluation.

after one day very impressive, and likely worth the nzd $2300

will add as we go.  And on the track and in the rain.....

    Re: DCS suspension controller

My local friend with a GT4 just bought one too.  It will be interesting to see if/how his lap times change.  He has a very good amount of data-logs and lap times already, so comparing will be easy.  I like that you can modify the maps to adapt to alignment and suspension mods to theoretically improve pasm without changing shocks.
