    Re: Running-in warrantee issues list

The seat seems to be squeaking from the rails. It sounded a bit better today but we'll see. I also get a bit of a rattle from the windstop. Other than that this basalt black 987 is amazing!

    Re: Running-in warrantee issues list

i have the same problem... will sand it to be fix thanks for the info

The titanium paint on the slats on my front vents is coming off (or was thinly applied in the first place and I didn't notice). It's showing black through the silver. VERY minor point, I admit!

These were fixed as I got the car serviced last week. There is a specific 'Customer Complaint' fix noted in the system for it. I wonder if
    a) this is due to the comment I made in this thread?
    Or
    b) it is a more widespread problem, and has been picked up elsewhere.

Anyone else had the same thing? Might be worth posting any annoying niggles you have in this thread, just in case it was a)!

As a side point, had first service done at OPC Exeter at 15,000 miles. While they didn't flag up anything wrong, the car feels MUCH better, handling-wise. (I mean to query this - the lousy handling was starting to get me down). Plus the 1st->2nd change, and gearbox in general feels much smoother. Engine seems quieter when cuising which I guess is due to fresh oil. Lots of minor stuff. 20k miles seems long for first service!

    Re: Running-in warrantee issues list

I have april 06 2.7 987 with 2k miles, following probs so far:-
    Sqeeks from LHS suspension,
    Creeking Roof
    & Handbrake needs adjustment.
    Booked in for next week

I think these 'improvements' were momentary - Oh well! Engine seems to lack power post-service, and sounds worryingly 'metallic' between 3-5krpm. Will let you know further observations.

Various noises tend to go away by themselves,(pedal squeeks anyone?) so give non-critical squeeks and rattles time to bed down by themselves. Maybe better than having a tech take things to bits and put it back together again, not solve the original noise, and scuff or mark your leather in the process!

    What's up with the handbrake?

    Re: Running-in warrantee issues list

fair point wtsnet, its not squeeking at all today, so I've cancelled fault service.
Handbrake doesn't seem to hold the car on hills without big effort on h/b lever.

See how it goes. might need bedding in. try applying the brake while moving slightly. Someone more knowledgable than I (Can't remember who though unfortunatly) reckons that the hand brake doesn't act on the disks - it's a seperate thing. Keep us posted. I have a feeling that mine used to slip a little originally too.

    Re: Running-in warrantee issues list

The handbrake generally seems a bit on the wee side.. if it doesn't engage properly raise the point with your local service crew.. they can fix it to a degree. WTS I hope your car will go back to the old performance again. I'm thinking of booking mine in for first service soon.. at app. 12-13k miles (16 months old) .. not quite decided yet but getting there .

    Re: Running-in warrantee issues list

Recenty had car in for some fixes:

The 2krpm 'mooing' sound from the engine (Oil pump pressure relief cylinder - now given special coating to stop resonnance I think) That seems fixed.

I also had a fault which no-one else seems to have complained about, in that the remote locking had limited range. Security system replaced and keys re-programmed. Also fixing the problem.

Engine power seems OK, though I might have just got used to it. Maybe I should have a drag-race with someone to compare.

    Re: Running-in warrantee issues list

Here are some of mine I've noticed after owning for 2 months and 3700 Miles. April 2006 build.

    - Rattle/Flapping noise at speeds above 200+ KPH(not sure if roof or body panels?!!?)
    - Squeaks from what i think may be right rear passenger wheel area. Noise happens with top up or down
    - Rattle/squeak from glove box, intermittent

    It's all falling to pieces!

Well, thought that would get your attention.

I feel a little tired of moaning about stuff, but just reporting in. Just shy of 20k miles. Don't know if it was the recent hot weather or what, but the drivers window seal seems to have moved, so I'm getting a lot more wind noise from there today. Also, after applying the 'Windstop Rattle Fix' TSB, I now seem to have a rattling windstop. My advice is not to let them apply this fix if you don't have a rattle already. I also now have a squeak, seeming to be in sympathy with the suspension, behind the driver's head. (Note: I just had rear shocks replaced) Also, paint is chipped off the sharp corners at the top of the brake calipers. Suspect that this happened when the shocks were changed, but cannot substantiate. Fronts are fine. Oh, and still have lousy handling issues. On a plus point, the engine seems better today. Oil is back below the max after a period of slight overfil. Coincidentally, I noticed an increase in mpg after the oil-pump pressure relief piston was changed. Don't know if this is related.

All the above are just my observations and theorising. Observed changes may be just conincidental, rather than directly linked to any workshop action.

Oh, and anyone recommend a good leather cleaner? The beige leather is starting to need nourishment, de-stickying, and some grubby marks removing.

    Cheers!

If you have small noise, and the technical performance of the car is not affected, my advice is to give it time to fix itself. Chances are that if the techs try to fix it, they'll just make 3 more noises in the process.

thats funny, mine was 'fixed' 10 days ago and i now notice lots of little rattles from this area - they put four small pieces of foam tape at points around the perimeter of the windstop - think i will try removing them, can always use a bit of blu-tac if i have to revert.

Snap, but i'm holding out on a verdict at present given the very hot weather recently (29'C cruising home at 80 tonight ), and again only 10 days since it was fixed.
