    New wheel size recommendations

    Hey guys. I am replaceing my Sport Design Wheels with Black HRE 841Rs. Looking at 2 possible sizes:

    11 inch rear - 295 width tires

    OR

    11.5 inch rear - 305 width tires

    Anyone have pros and cons - besides the wider set up being more expensive?

    305's fit just fine on the 11 inch wheel - that's what's mounted on Carrera S and Carrera Classic for the C4S - both are 11 inch wheels.

    The XRR wheel from Porsche is 11.5.

    These are one of my favorites they are 20x11.5 and are designed specifically for the 997

    Rhino. Those are pretty sweet. But I am looking for a black finish with polished lip.

    I would think you can get it painted or powder coated. There is another wheel I have seen on the 997 which I think is nice. It is made by Avus and has about 9 spokes. Two 997's in my area have them painted (one in white the other in burgandy), both look very nice! I will try to post some pics of a yellow 997 with them on, I saw it a few days ago on the net.

    These are the HRE's I am ordering. They come manufactured in the color you want - also it seems like CHAMPIONS are 20s only.

    What do you guys think?

    I agree. The rear looks like it has something missing. A hamster perhaps.

    Do you think wangt1015 that we can install 305 tires on the sportdesign wheels for our c2? If we visit 1010tires.com you can compare the 295 with the 305 and apparently some difference is noticeable regarding the height and the km or miles actually run... if you see what I mean...

    I finally found the Avus rim pictures... some might like the look. I have seen them in person painted white and burgandy(porsche calls it some kind of red???) they looked nice. The other day I saw a cab and I believe it had these rims in silver no polish. It was lowered and it must have been the nicest 997cab I have ever seen, but it was late and I couldn't confirm the rims IMHO the others I have seen in person look nicer than these yellow ones.

    There are more issues than the doubtful one--this fashion obsession with large wheels is very strange----they often look too large.

    Negatives? Cost with 305s; harsh ride as all compliance is gone; their only peformance advantage is on the track, and even that is unproven for that non standard size, greater chance of damage to rims....

    Nah...stay with 19s...

    I would even say there is a major performance disadvantage when porsches are fitted with wheels larger than intended due to higher unsprung weight.

    Rhino, I think that car looks good with those rims. I have a C2S on order and plan on putting the Avus 501 on it. I have also thought of doing the Champion rims in 20s that are on the silver car with areokit. My car is going to have the areokit..

    The unsprung weight could definitely be an issue, that's why I am leaning more towards the champion wheels which are designed for Porsche.

    I don't know how but I ran into that other white 997cab in the opposite part of town. It didn't have the avus wheels they were HRE. The pics don't do it justice, but I think I prefer the Champions 1st, the Avus 2nd, and the HRE 3rd

    I'm looking at the Avus 501 in 20s and they weight 26lbs for the 20x8.5 and 29lbs for the 20x11. They are heaver then the stock but, know where close to the Techart. The stock wheels everybody like are the carrera sport and they weight in at 24lbs and 29lbs. Thought my second choice is the 20 inch champion and they are a little lighter then the stock 19s. I still have some time to make my my mind (car is a May build)

    I saw the Avus 501's on a Bently GT and they did look nice!
