    Thank you KresoF1

The interesting thing about this article is that it was written by Natalie Neff - lucky woman!

But does she look scared to you

Re: "it is the easest car to drive fast"

The full size cover of Autoweek - run Forest, run! (and buy it)

Re: "it is the easest car to drive fast"

And what are those two we haven't seen yet? GT3 RS and GT2?

Road and Track says the Turbo has zero lag and power is as instant as flipping a light switch. If that's true, then that's quite an achievement.

    But, I have my doubts.

    Why doubt it?

I doubt it, since the turbocharged motor will still retain its general power delivery characteristics with VTG. Sure, the response will be better than without, but I also don't think "lightswitch" will be an accurate description, especially at very low revs (without brake-torquing). I expect it to be fantastic - just not instantaneous. I expect it to still feel like the typical turbo avalanche where power is made from power (the harder you're pushing, the more you can push further - power building on itself will be felt).

If you look at the automotive press reviews of past 911 Turbos, they all have said that lag was virtually non-existent, ever since they began to improve on the old 930 3.0 which had horrible lag. Read about the 993TT and 996TT and you will see claims of "zero" lag...

Trying to make power from idle in a tall gear will not occur instantly. I'll be happy to be proved wrong though

If diesel engines are anything to judge by, the VTG turbochargers really will perform almost lag-free. Unless below 1500 rpm, the power will be instantaneous.

Diesel motors have very high compression, so they have a bit quicker response down in the low revs...

Re: "it is the easest car to drive fast"

Embarrassed to ask- Can anyone explain briefly what is meant by "brake torqueing"? thanks.

(Whenever I read it my mind conjures up the crazed lunatic kid from high school who'd entertain the crowd in his beat-up Cutlass by flooring both the gas and brake simultaneously-- then letting go of the brake...and I don't think that's what is meant here )

True, but they also have longer gears, but they still shoot from 1000 rpm lightningly quick.

Left foot on the brake hard. Floor the throttle allowing the torque converter to build the torque with the revvs and release the brake. Away you go.

BTW, guys, I should have said 997TurboCab and 997CarreraTarga (not TurboTarga)-sorry for spreading false rumours.
