AMS test drive!
I summarize the main points:
1. overboost option a must
2. car pulling very strongly, but even with overboost does not offer a totally new performance feeling compared to the 996tt
3. engine feels even more like a big displacement engine thanks to the VGT technology
4. using the shift gear is to be considered a 'luxury' given the excellent elasticity
5. very stable at high speed with low wind noises
6. suspension are tight but still comfortable at low speeds, in real GT tradition
7. new 4wd seems to allow excellent - and unspectacular, ie efficient- roadhandling.
8. final sentence of the test: the turbo is the perfect choice for clients who like to get their Mercedes from Porsche.
My take: usual excellent allround charakter we already know from the 996tt with some good improvement which in everyday life will be rather marginal. the excitement factor is not the reason why to buy a 997tt (as it wasnt probably for the 996tt either). Personally I would have wished a bit more rawness without having to switch to the gt3, but I guess that's very personal.
cheers
