Corvette C6 No Test Drive Available??

I live in Ventura County, SO Cal. I went to my local Chevrolet dealership to checkout the Z06 Vettes, of course none around, to be expected. Soo Im snoozing around the C6 Coupe and Conv. A sales person comes up to me and starts their pitch. I told him I am very perplexed as to why I cant test drive a Corvette. But at any BMW, Merc Benz, and Porsche dealership I am warmly invited to try almost anything they have. He says that Corvette drivers are very particular about their cars. The only way I can test drive the car is to get pre appproved for credit, and purchase. After I buy the car I can test drive it. What a bunch of Bull ****. I inform him that I was able to drive a 99K car and I wasnt subjected to such a moronic rule. I went as far as to talk to their Sales Manager, and told them how are they to earn my business when I cant even drive the vehicle Im interested in. Soooo I told them ok how about a used one, same deal, no test drives unless I get pre-approved for credit. Wow what a bunch of freakin idiots. I told them I guess Ill just have to be happy with one sports car. Ive been told by others that this policy is true for almost all Chevy dealerships. If you want to add a Corvette to your fleet stay away from Paradise Chevrolt and Todey in So cal, amazing idiots...

No flame please, but it is a Chevy for petes sake...

What you have experienced is the rare exception....not the rule. I live in Westlake Village (Ventura Co.) and never have had a problem with a test drive. Courtesy in Thousand Oaks will be happy to let you test drive a C6, as will almost every Chevy dealer. (unless you are 17 years old and look like you are not qualified). However, the Z06 is a different situation. Every Z will be sold the day it hits the floor unless the over-sticker price is crazy. But, there are some dealers, that, if they feel you are both serious and qualified, will let you drive a Z. I drove one before I bought one.

I assume you had prior experience with the dealer though

Sorry, that is normal for Corvettes. You will be hard pressed to find a demo Vette at any dealership for this reason. Vette owners don't want shoppers putting hard miles on their "new" cars when buying a car off the lot. Most Vettes have about 7 miles on the odometer when you purchase them all from the factory.

Been this way for many years. Your best luck is to call around and schedule a drive or borrow a friends vette when showing up at the stealership, this way they think you are a serious buyer.

Drive the Cobalt SS it's the same thing

afterall the vette and the cobalt play ball together on T.V. in one of those chevy commercials.

I have also heard this about Corvette dealers, but even Lamborghini dealerships have demos that are later sold at a heavy discount. Those who buy off the lot still do not have to accept somethign with more than 6 miles on the odometer because there is only one demo.
