    PSE Final Conclusion

    Hello,

I just to delivery of my 997 speed yellow coupe. I am in love with the car and can't wait go to lunch just to hear the PSE. I have read just about every thread about making PSE stay on all the time and I don't think the forum has come to a "best" answer. It looks like there are two options.

    1) Pulling the brown electrical wire

    2) Pulling off the hose that causes the exhaust to open and close.

Hopefully we can come up with the final and best solution.

    Thanks!

    Re: PSE Final Conclusion

i doubt the best solution will be found unless we found an insider

    Re: PSE Final Conclusion

    3) Cutting the wire from the DME and installing a new button to control PSE on/off

Probably. I would think that pulling the electrical connector would be the "safest", as you wouldn't have to deal with the potential of a vacuum leak.

    Re: PSE Final Conclusion

it was simple for me, i pulled the tube and placed tape over it. i did it on day one and it has been that way for almost a year. i have had it in for service more times than i care to say and the dealer thinks that it is very "cool" that i knew enough to do the mod.

    Re: PSE Final Conclusion

well my dealer almost shouted at me when he found out!!!:(

a little more and HE would be the one who needed service

THIS IS THE BEST SOLUTION .
I have tried both others before.... they are the same to me. But then I have installed the new button...and it is just great to be able to have it stock or modified on the tip of a finger

    Re: PSE Final Conclusion

Gnil/Bluelines - can you please provide more details on exactly what you had done? I will then see if my OPC can do the same.

    Cheers!

    Re: PSE Final Conclusion

I also have the switch solution w/chron
One position gives you stock settings.
The other position gives you PSE open/on.
You can have any variable except "quiet" with sport on.
I also believe this is the only way to go.
The wiring is more "complex" than you might think
    - but you do not need to run any wires from front to back.

    Re: PSE Final Conclusion

FWIW, my dealer did mine using the disconnect and plug the vacuum line method.

And in the unlikely event my PSE develops a problem under warranty, I suspect my dealer will get it handled through warranty, which they're very good at.

    Re: PSE Final Conclusion

I (or my OPC) pulled the hose; I reconnected it just to remember the old standard sound... what can I say... the sound was soooo Hence I pulled it of again to have the PSE always on.... FOR GOOD !! So I didn't find the need to install a second button cause I know I'll never ever use it...

    Re: PSE Final Conclusion

yeah i totally agree i disconnected it the day i got the car i put it back a few days ago just to see how it sounds and theres no way im ever going to be connecting that again although im still wondering if the mod causes any harm

Yeah, I did the same thing a week ago. I hadn't heard the standard sound for a year. So I reconnected the electrical and drove. After about 15 minutes, I immediately pulled over and disconnected the electrical to go back to "PSE always on". Never again will I make such a mistake.

    Re: PSE Final Conclusion

everyone who "pulls the plug" never goes back!

    Re: PSE Final Conclusion

Well it looks like both methods seem to have been successful. Does anyone have a pic of a 997 base with the correct hose pulled and plugged. I am seemingly leaning this way but I'm not sure why yet.

hehe... once you pop, you can't stop

    Re: PSE Final Conclusion

Well it looks like I am leaning towards pulling hose and plugging it. I'm not really sure why yet, but sounds good. Does anyone have a pic of a base 997 with the hose pulled?

    Re: PSE Final Conclusion

I was at my OPC on tuesday and asked the mechanic for his opinion.

I asked if anyone had requested the exhaust in 'loud' mode all the time. He said they hadn't. When I asked if there would be a problem with me doing it. He said 'No problem at all'.

At this point I told him I already had.

He had no problems with this. Although did state that the official line is (and always will be) that I am not allowed to remove this connector for warranty reasons.
