my local porsche dealer said as i drove off in my beautiful new silver cayman that it really makes no difference whether you use normal or super!! he said if it was a ferrari then its worth it! great salesman eh!? i wonder if anyone really knows the truth? please advise me chaps..
Mandatory are 98 octane, you can also use Optimax, V-Power or Ultimate (varies from countries to countries) which usually have 99 or 100 octane (actually most 98 octane fuel brands have already 100 octane, just a little hint

).
It is indeed possible to use up to 95 octane or even 91 but only for a temporary time period. Your sales person is just plain dumb, sorry to say that.
We should also be careful: in the US, they have different octane ratings. As far as I remember, 98 octane Europe translates into 95 octane US (ROZ/MOZ?...I always forget that sh.t

). In the US, people should use minimum 93 octane if they can't get something better. I wouldn't track race my car if using 91 octane on a regular basis.
Hope this helps.
