PSE on/off...... Sport: On + PASM: Normal

Hi guys sorry if this is a silly question but I am waiting for my PSE to be put in soon and chances are that I am going to have to tie in the PSE on/off with my Sports button.

So, I was wondering how I can switch on the PSE without having the car in full on Sport mode. The answer may be to have Sport switched on, and then hit the PASM button to turn that back into Normal mode. My question is, what does that combination actually result in?

    - PSM watered-down
    - Throttle response faster
    - (PSE on)

Yes?! I have obviously read the manual (shown below) and that's my interpretation.

I'm just thinking that I don't always want to be power-sliding round wet roads when I want to listen to the glorious PSE. The other option of course is either disconnecting the PSE vacuum hose or the electrics to make PSE stay on all the time.

What does everyone else typically do?

That is correct. You will have the chrono sport funcions ON except the PASM on sport.

I switch the PSE on permanently through the PSE-fix. There are time were I want the PSE ON but I do not want lower PSM&ABS threshold settings like in rain for example. However, there are no times when I "need" the PSE OFF.

Where are you having it done and how much are they charging you if you dont mind me asking. OPC quoted me Pounds1700 inc vat

    Thanks Carlos

Which mod do you use? The hose disconnect or the electrics disconnect? And how quick and easy is it to go between on/off for such method?

I have read most of the PSE-hack threads over the last year and frankly I am still a little confused as to which of the 2 suggested methods are healthiest for the car (if there is such a distinction). Also, does the hack get round the cut-off phases between certain speeds?

Re: PSE on/off...... Sport: On + PASM: Normal

I use the hose method. Its probabably the same thing but I don't unplugging and electronic switch.

Its a simple as opening th engine lid, and plugging and unplugging the hose that is readily accesible.

The hack's only purpose IS to eliminate the cut-off periods.

By the way, I recently undid the mod for kicks, just to see what it was like. The original sound of the exhaust is pretty good, but the PSE sound when Sport button is enabled is pretty annoying because of the cut-off, once you've gotten use to "always-on". So within an hour, I un-hooked the electrical connector again to give me "always-on".

Re: PSE on/off...... Sport: On + PASM: Normal

    Interesting, thanks!

...not the ONLY purpose though as my main aim is to have PSE on with Sport mode off.

So I think disconnecting (and closing) the hose indicated below may be my best bet

Re: PSE on/off...... Sport: On + PASM: Normal

I'll be getting my car this next week and it has PSE, but I also have the X51 power package and I understand that the hose mod can't be done with the power package. Anyone has any suggestions on how to keep PSE on all the time, with the X51 package?

Re: PSE on/off...... Sport: On + PASM: Normal

Do the hose disconnect method, my OPC did it for me, do not worry about damaging the PSE. Believe me 1- the sound is even louder than when you use the sports button enabled, 2- the cut off is so annoying; you'll feel that you are definitely not having the full potential of the PSE. Anyway you can do the mod (disc. and connecting the hose) as many times as you wish, it only takes seconds...

Ahh. Yes, you're correct. Two reasons for the mod. I either had too much or not enough coffee this morning.

I did the hose mod first. The only problem is that you have to duct tape the end of the hose to prevent vacuum leak. The electrical mod does not require this. And putting duct tape around the end of a hose is cumbersome because you want to do a good enough job to prevent the leak. If you want to go back and forth between having the mod, it can get a little messy. Now, if you have something to put at the end of the hose, than that would be better.

Disconnecting/reconnecting the electrical connector takes 10 seconds.
