You're right, I had completely overlooked the fact that the Boxster came out a year earlier than the 996. Must have been that M96 name that messed with my mind...![]()
- actually, here in the US, the Boxster came out 2 years before the 996 (97 vs. 99)

No problem- actually, here in the US, the Boxster came out 2 years before the 996 (97 vs. 99)
In fact, in 1996 in the US (the year of my 993), I believe that the 993 was the only Porsche for sale, afaik (before the Boxster and after the 928GTS and 968). Funny how things have changed in 10 years...
Now we have 997, 987, Cayman, Cayenne, and CGT in the same year with 4-door sedan on the way...

I just hope that with the super strong 997 turbo block, the VTG turbos prove reliable, heat will kill any engine and since they dont need to prove this technology for racing....Im a bit nervous!

I'm not nervous since I know how "anal" Porsche engineers are regarding new technologies and their reliability but I'm going to be very cautious with putting more stress to the engine (tuning for example) in the beginning. This is why we recommended in another thread to WAIT with all kind of engine mods until we learn how reliable the new technology is and how to "do it right".
