Yes it's normal - the flanks are especially susceptible to wrinkles as opposed to the main area supporting your back and bottom. I think there was a post on here way back explaining a "proper way" to get in and out of the seats (absurd) which basically has you sitting straight onto the center of the seat as to avoid putting any pressure on the flanks.
I've been doing this since I got the car and the wrinkles aren't as prevalent on the flanks.

True. My girlfriend saw that her seat was getting wrinkled and looked at me with a pained expression like, "sorry....". I just laughed really--I think most leathers get wrinkled over time and god knows we've spent lots of time in the box, but yeah, you'd think the seats would stand up to a LITTLE more than that.

Do you use a crane to get into the Boxster
After just 2,500 km in my new pride and joy I already can see some wrinkles at the left bottom side bolster (I had this with all my cars, my wife accusing me of taking a wrong seating position
). And do you know what: I love those wrinkles (just like wearing an old leather jacket - way more "character" compared to a brand new one). Though I have to admit, the unavoidable wrinkles are a good reason for me to stay away from the lighter leather colours.
