    new PSE info

    I went to my dealership today and drove a 997C4S with PSE.
    I am thinking about installing the damn thing on my 997C2.
    My baby has the Chrono pack too.
    However, while driving, I noticed a strange noise, like an air turbine noise but without the "near the end" whistle.
    It's a much deeper sound, like some air it's sucked down some rubber tubes at a high speed.
    It's that part of the PSE experience?
    Can anyone that drove a PSE car please let me know ?

    Anyway, here is what I found out (at least here is what I remember but I also took some notes): an "updated" PSE is now available (from 5/05/2006).
    The first one was introduced on 2/15/2005.

    What's new:
    - new vehicle types added;
    - new switch console button (it has a "Double tailpipe" icon) but it's available only for vehicles without Sport Chrono; the ones with the Chrono pack are still using the Sport console button to switch the PSE on/off;
    - different electric line wiring is now used for the MY'06 models (the MY'05 is using some different wiring - more on this later)

    I will be back with more later.

    Re: new PSE info

    Here is something that I wrote beacuse I found it very important:

    "In the new sports exhaust system, the signal for activating the flaps in the rear silencers does not
    come from the vehicle speedometer as before, but from the respective current map in the DME
    control module. This depends on the driving status and the accelerator pedal position among other
    things."

    and

    "Engine power and exhaust behaviour of the vehicle are not affected. The sports exhaust system is
    also available ex-works for new vehicles under Exclusive option No. "XLF"!"

    This option is not available for the power kit X51.

    Re: new PSE info

    More of my notes for the Sport Chrono wiring:

    "5.3 Connect electric wire harness.

    5.3.1 Release connectors A and C for the DME control module.

    5.3.2 Insert line 5625 (MY '05) or 5631 (as of MY'06); GY/GN; 0.52 into connector C; chamber 14 (sports exhaust system valve).

    5.3.3 Cut off existing line 5359; RD/BU; 1.02 in connector A; chamber 8 (terminal 87) approx. 5 cm behind connector A.
    Strip the ends of both lines 5359; RD/BU; 1.02 and 9132; RD/BU; 0.52 (retrofit kit) and slide shrink-fit hose over line 5359; RD/BU; 1.02 on the connector side.

    Bundle the ends of lines 5359; RD/BU; 1.02 and 9132; RD/BU; 0.52 (retrofit kit) and crimp them together as a splice with line 5359; RD/BU; 1.52 on the connector side and a cable connection.

    Slide shrink-fit hose over the splice and shrink the hose to make it water-tight with a hot-air gun."

    Re: new PSE info

    Now on the My'05 no Chrono wiring:

    "6.2 Connect electric wire harness to DME control module ONLY for vehicles in model year '05 (Figure13):

    A = Connector to sports exhaust system button
    X2_1 = B-pillar connection point
    C = DME control module, connector C
    D = DME control module, connector D

    6.2.1 Insert line 9726; BU/BU; 0.52 in connector D; chamber 6 (the new button for the sports exhaust system - my comment).

    6.2.2 Cut off existing line 5625; GY/GN; 0.52 in connector C; chamber 14 (sports exhaust system valve, see also Step 5.3.2) approx. 5 cm behind connector C.

    Strip the ends of both lines 5625; GY/GN; 0.52 and 9727; GY/GN; 0.52 (retrofit kit) and slide shrink-fit hose over line 5625; GY/GN; 0.52 on the connector side.

    Bundle the ends of lines 5625; GY/GN; 0.52 and 9727; GY/GN; 0.52 (retrofit kit) and crimp them together as a splice with line 5625; GY/GN; 0.52 on the connector side and a cable connection.

    Slide shrink-fit hose over the splice and shrink the hose to make it water-tight with a hot-air gun.
    "

    Re: new PSE info

    Now on the My'06, no Chrono wiring:

    "6.3 Connect electric wire harness to DME control module ONLY for vehicles as of model year '06 (Figure14):

    A = Connector to sports exhaust system button
    X2_1 = B-pillar connection point
    D = DME control module, connector D

    6.3.1 Insert line 9726; BU/BU; 0.52 in connector D; chamber 6 (again, the new button for the sports exhaust system).

    6.3.2 Insert line 9727; GY/GN; 0.52 in connector D; chamber 17 (diode for sports exhaust system)."

    Re: new PSE info

    And some common part:

    "6.4 Route electric wire harness to the centre console and connect it.

    6.4.1 Wrap adhesive tape around line 9726; BU/BU; 0.52 and line 9727; GY/GN; 0.52.

    6.4.2 Route both lines along the electric wire harness as follows: DME control module (on the Coupé: see Figure 15A)-> node point of floorpan assembly for rear seats -> left side panel -> left B-pillar (Figure 15B).

    6.4.3 Plug pin contacts of both lines into 2-pin connector as follows:
    Line 9727; GY/GN; 0.52 in chamber 1 (button LED)
    Line 9726; BU/BU; 0.52 in chamber 2 (button signal)

    6.4.4 Connect 2-pin plug connection for connection point X2_1 (left B-pillar).

    Make sure the line colours match in the plug socket and connector!

    Chamber 1: GY/GN; 0.52; lines: 9727 (connector; Figure 16A) and 9740 (plug socket; Figure 16B)
    Chamber 2: BU/BU; 0.52; lines: 9726 (connector)and 9741 (plug socket)

    6.4.5 Route lines 9740; GY/GN; 0.52 and 9741; BU/BU; 0.5 from the B-pillar to the switch console, in the centre console area, as follows:

    Connection point X2_1 (left B-pillar) -> door sill -> A-pillar -> underneath dashboard, above retaining frame (along standard wire harness) -> lower slot in centre console

    6.4.6 Open secondary lock on 16-pin connector for the new switch module including "sports exhaust system" symbol and insert socket contacts of the lines (No. 9741 and No. 9740) into the 16-pin plug socket as follows:

    Line 9740; GY/GN; 0.52 in chamber A11 (button LED)
    Line 9741; BU/BU; 0.52 in chamber A10 (button signal)
    Close secondary lock on 16-pin connector.

    6.4.7 Use tie-wraps or wrapping tape to secure electric line to existing lines or components without tension and so that no chafing occurs."

    Re: new PSE info

    Comments ?

    Here is what I am planning for My'05 997C2 baby:
    1. I will order the kit and a panel with buttons for the C2S (which has from left to right: the wing control switch, the PASM control button, the SPORT switch and far to the right of this plastic panel, the PSM switch);
    2. since I don't have PASM but I have the Chrono Pack, I will connect my existing wires to the respective switches (wing to wing, sport to sport and PSM to PSM) and I will try to use the PASM switch to control the PSE on/off
    3. in order to do that I need to re-wire everything in a different way from what Porsche is suggesting above for the Chrono install but similar with MY'05 install.

    If anyone has more knowledge about the MY'05 DME wiring, please let me know at least by PM.

    For example - what exactly are the following DME lines used for a MY'05 car:

    - line 5625, connector C, chamber 14 (I suspect control of the PSE valve, but how ?!!! on/off electric values like 0/1 or a range of values .... very important ! I need to dig this out);
    - line 5359 connector A, chamber 8 (terminal 87);
    - line 9132

    I suspect both must have something to do with the Sport LED switch and the Sport command switch.

    Please advice !

    Re: new PSE info

    I assume you have the '06 version of the install doc I have?

    If so could you send it to me please via PM? If you dont have the full PDF for '05 then let me know an I will PM it to you
