with a PDK option on the way, possibly for 2007, why would anyone rush and buy a 997TT or GT3 with the current choice of Tiptronic or Manual!!!

I would still buy the manual on a GT3, no matter what sort of auto box is made optional...

Very well said. Of course the 997 GT2 will "beat" the Turbo manual or at least be as fast as the Turbo manual from 0-100 kph. The Tiptronic "situation" on the 997 Turbo is a very special thing, it can't be "translated" to non-AWD cars for example.
It may have been a mistake that Porsche "allowed" to the the 997 Turbo Tip THAT fast, especially from 0-100 kph. But there will be the Turbo S, a powerkit, no need to think that there won't be anything faster. Of course there will be something faster in two years, no doubt about it.
But the performance margin in the lower speed range is already at it's limit, I doubt that car manufacturers can make their cars much faster from 0-100 kph, unless they're using some sort of special launch "gimmicks".
I'd say that for the next two to three years, there won't be many cars around to beat a 997 Turbo Tip from 0-100 kph, especially not at the same or at a lower price tag.

It seems that getting below 3,5 seconds is impossible at these weights, unless tyre manufacturers design a new kind of tyre, that will have unreal grip and will be able to take 600 horsepower, without breaking loose. 100-200 km/h times have lots of room for improvement, though.
