Hmm interesting... Are the official datas healthy??
0-60 and 0-100mph times in tiptronic mod is same as PAGANI ZONDA F, which is a very very fast exotic super car in the area of Enzo, LP640, MC 12.
I really wonder the real test times. IMO the test datas will be slightly worse than the official datas

Well, Porsche factory claims is usually pretty close to the real review data, at least this is my experience.
Porsche is very proud of the 3.7 seconds from 0-100 kph (Tip), so I assume this value is accurate. I wouldn't be surprised to see a slightly better value with brute force starting. Apparently the mentioned 3.7 seconds have been achieved with PSM turned off but without Sport Chrono AND without any brute force starting like pressing the brake pedal, raising the rev figure...you get the point. Just press the throttle and woooshhhhh.

These numbers are amazing considering the Hp and weight.

What I don't understand is how could Porsche allow the TT get so close to the CGT in acceleration figures. The car cost 1/3 the CGT does/did. Also, is it true that the TT went around Hockenheim in 1 min. 8 sec?

If so, I am blown away by that accomplishment.

John Maynard Keyes the great British economist once was asked why he had changed his mind on a particular theory and his response was (paraphrase) "When facts show you are wrong what do you do?"

The TT numbers are staggering. If I was only into performance, this car would get a serious look from me. It may yet depending on how its looks in the flesh. For now its homely looks is a major deterent.

Re: Will the TIP 997 TT run 11.6 in the Quarter Mile

It would be a great replacement for the Mini

You're shocked? I've been slapping myself silly for the past three hours, trying to make sure that I'm awake and not in some freak dream...

You should go back to drinking normal coffee now, Nick.

All that Starbucks decaf seems to be bringing about a personality change.

Re: Will the TIP 997 TT run 11.6 in the Quarter Mile

Hey guys, who agrees that Porsche should pay us a beer or two because they just sold a couple of dozends of Turbos just because of this thread?

Now seriously: I have the 997 Turbo on order and I just can't wait to get it. But we should stay with our feet on the ground. Right now all we have are factory specs, factory claims, claims from some more or less trustable sources, rumors, gossip and maybe a tiny bit of wishful thinking too. I don't want people to be disappointed when they finally get their car.

To Nick: I never heard the 1 min 8 sec claim for Hockenheim. If true (with street tires), it would be absolutely amazing. Even with cup tires, it would be still impressive. But although I can't deny that I like your positive approach and your change(?) of mind, I'm still a little bit cautious. I'm somebody who wants to see FACTS and not only claims and numbers. Meaning: unless I see a Sport Auto test which confirms the amazing rumors/claims and/or unless I can confirm it myself by actually trying it out, I still have my doubts.

Right now the hype regarding the 997 Turbo is growing stronger and stronger and I'm just afraid that this huge bubble of hopes and expectations may burst suddenly with a huge BAAANNNNGGG.

We all agree that the 997 Turbo is a pretty fast car and that it seems to deliver an amazing performance for "just" 480 HP. And now we should just sit back and wait until our expectations are fullfilled...or not.

Funny, I thought for a minute that maybe he had just switched to drinking caffeine.
