Grant - can't you just ask them for a spring build slot? That's what I did. Seems clear to me your heart is set on a manual..

I don't even know what my allocation month is yet.  Hopefully I'll have more info sometime soon and be able to make a plan.

The 6 speed manual is sublime. Best manual gearbox I have ever experienced.

The car is likely to be a long term keeper - perhaps the peak of Porsche's non-turbo engine development with 9k redline, motorsport linked engine, etc. Now we have hybrids/electrics around the corner, self driving cars on the horizon..

Wait for the car if a manual ticks more of the boxes.

    Thanks, David!  Sounds great

I am going with the buckets. Aestheticly they look better. Also, better for resale. I don't do long trips in a GT car so comfort is not a significant issue. Most of my forays are of a short duration.kiss

I think you'll find it makes driving the car a more "connected" experience.  A little gymnastics required for entry/exit, but really nice once in them.  Perfect for the GT4.  In the GT3, it's a little inconvenient not being able to easily access the rear part of the cabin (including simple things like cleaning the inside of the rear window or storing luggage behind the seats)

the buckets are very comfy and actually easy to get in and out from. the non-folding ones are massively inconvenient for storing anything behind. even getting your computer bag in and out is a drag. but probably i'd get them again on an RS, maybe not on a GT3, where i'd go for the folding ones. unless of course you mainly do track.

It is even worse in Germany: We have some discussion forums in German where people don't use capital letters at all (and unlike in English, many many German words start with capital letters) and even often forget about punctuation. I would always get a lift system when it is available.

Even in developed countries, there are situations where a lift is very welcomed.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

1390741198602image.jpg I have to admit that it sometimes gets a little boring driving my 991.1 GT3 in everyday situations because of the PDK.  Comparing it to my Ford Shelby GT350 R, the manual is more engaging and you feel more connected to the car.  You are just more aware of everything around you and outside of the car.  However, I will take the GT3 anyday in high speeds or in a track (it is ridiculous just how much better the car is!)

That said, seriously considering a GT3 manual in black!  There is no brand like Porsche!

I Also think the rear of the 991.1 GT3 looks sleeker and more modern than the new interpretation of the .2 car, which looks too busy in my opinion.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Anyone have information on wether there will be a 'touring' version of GT3 with wing delete option?  I like everything about this car except the big rear wing.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Porsche is too afraid to cannibalize its other models where the margins are much bigger to offer a touring version with no wing and rear seats or convertible. The GTx cars are still very good value and no one would buy the higher specs GTS and such.

A Touring package will be available but we don't know yet what it contains. Rumors vary from a wing delete to rear seats or even both. Smiley Another rumor indicated a softer and slightly higher (10 mm) chassis setup.

    We will know soon... Smiley

Just had a look at the new car - very nice. Rear styling/spoiler changes are pretty subtle. I prefer the new front - looks very neat. Rear diffuser is quite big and looks like it will be a 'service item'. Plastic vanes though so should be cheap.

Don't like the striped seats, but otherwise kiss

    Service item for sure!

Here is the one under my 911R after the road trip.

    IMG_3028.JPG
    IMG_3029.JPG

It is a $600 plastic part. One reason Porsche is being realistic and didn't do it in carbon like other manufacturers.

If there is a touring option with rear seats then I for one am ticking that option. Makes the car a much easier sell to the wife and 95%+ of my planned use will be for non track....

    Grant,

the easiest solution is keep your first spot and go ahead with PDK GT3 and euro delivery.

if you don't like it enough, ask dealer to order you a manual and promise them that you will trade the PDK back to them.  They will love you so much for this trade in.

chances is you may make some money in your trade as well...

I love your thinking!  Unfortunately, I helped a buddy get on the list there and his spot is sort of a reserve position (will only be filled if they get more allocations than ever before or people drop off the list).  So, unlikely that I'd get two bites of the apple.  But maybe I could find a dealer somewhere that could accommodate such a deal. Smiley

I don't know how the US dealers operate.

In Vancouver, being on the list does not equal to getting a car, no matter where one is positioned on the list.

Someone with a GT3 or RS trade in, or those cocky 918 owners, will have the highest priority, next in line are VIPs like me.  Anyone that does not own any Porsche basically has no chance at all, they will not even let him get on the list.

I may or may not be able to get one, depending on how many people are trading in their GT3 or RS in front of me.

If I trade in my 3.8RS, I will get one of the top spot.  But of course I will not be stupid enough to do this.Smiley

Don't worry, there is only 2 spots left under reserve for 918 owners in Vancouver, the other 3 already flipped their 918 and lost their status. Smiley It's just me and the Chinese kid, and I don't think the Chinese kid will buy the GT3.
